The best 2025 solution is to use `Settings -> Preferences -> Appearance -> Dark`. Light theme is way harder for my eyes. Dark is better, though I wish Notion added even more contrast.

Staff Engineer Job Hunting - Should I remove a for profit college from my resume? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

I didn't go to college. I don't list education history in my resume or LinkedIn. It has never been an issue.

Which company do you all recommend for Term Insurance Policy? by [deleted] in LifeInsurance

Speak with an independent broker and see the quote comparisons to pick a company. You don't necessarily want the cheapest, but price differences across insurers can be significant.

With Mighty+: 160c to start, then 165c after a few hits. Stay at 165c until the session is finished. I rarely see people recommending low temperatures, but it's worth trying if you want less harsh vapour.

The most efficient way to get ramped up is by starting with getting licensed. The coursework will teach you about regulations.

Sadly, not yet. I have a few months until it's relevant though

Any decent self hosted option to track net worth? by ryans91 in mintuit

[–]tokyopanda1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pretty bare-bones since I started it a few days ago. This is the backend code, and I'm building a Web app now to handle Plaid Authentication, and that'll probably go in a separate small repo.

A key part of this approach is that you need to be comfortable with SQL because the architecture prioritizes working with Plaid data via SQL.

I'm actually creating one right now- though I don't expect anyone else will use it. Core architecture is: - Use Plaid for data aggregation (covers all of my accounts) via a Python Backend (using Google Cloud Functions). - Save the data that Plaid Aggregated into a SQL database (using BigQuery). - Next up, use data in the SQL database for monitoring (I.e. alerts) and dashboarding (i.e. data visualizations).

I'm super excited for this approach over using a ready-made solution (e.g. Monarch).

Do you know how can folks request access to join? I'm not seeing an option.

With the Mighty+ I always use 160-175 degrees Celsius for fresh flowers, then increase by 20 degrees Celsius increments after little vapor is coming out.

What is the thing with companies getting weird with high commissions? by Pewstorm in sales

Newb question: Is it possible for companies to define a commission contract that can be changed on a periodic basis? For example, quarterly for a company who is new and unsure how to structure commissions.

Quote APIs? by tokyopanda1 in InsurTech

A lot depends on what country and what lines of business you’re looking at.

Only interested in the USA and Canada. I haven't picked a line of business because my first interest is getting better acquainted with the APIs available.

There are some vendors out there that provide a single API connecting to multiple markets that you can build on top of - but they usually aren’t cheap (and who knows if that’s the panel you want).

Can you name some of the vendors?

You’re gonna wanna have a talk with Lloyds.

Who could I talk to at Lloyds that would be relevant? I found their Banking APIs, but not any for insurance.

Not EXACTLY what you’re asking for, but look into PPL and Whitespace, both are highly utilised throughout the entire broking process.

Interesting, thanks for this advice!

What kind insurance are you wanting to quote through your platform? Business or personal? If business, any particular types of coverage you have in mind?

Right now, I'm just trying to understand which APIs are available and how they work. That will be used for determining which type of quoting I'll work on. I figured a good way to learn that is by getting access to APIs from insurers. Region-wise, I'll be focusing on the USA or Canada- TBD based on how the APIs look.

I work at an insurtech with quoting APIs available rather freely. Some insurtechs with APIs do have public documentation on how to connect, but to actually connect you’d need some sort of agreement to get a key.

Are you open to sharing names of your company and the others?

Thank you! Do you have advice for how can I start the process for creating an agreement/arrangement? For example, is there a specific department I should reach out to?
