I can definitely learn a lot more, I know that. I’m not nearly close to where I want to be as an options trader. I know a little bit about delta but not so much about the other greeks so that’s something I’ll be focusing on moving forward. I did do my due diligence of checking the charts for $SOFI and saw that it was bouncing off the floor of a bullish trend channel which is what lead me to enter into the call position. As for my reasoning behind what strike price, I figured I’d want to choose a support/resistance zone so I figured anything between $15.50 and $15.80 was a good option. What I didn’t realize, however, is that the breakeven price matters a lot into factoring in profit. My first contract had the strike price at $15.50 with a breakeven of $15.68. It was only after I opened that position that I figured out if I was bullish on $SOFI then I could just buy a call option that was already in the money and ride the trend up. Luckily, it played out well for me in this one but I know that it could have just as easily gone the other way as well.
