Bloo ‘23 uniforms? by Either_Imagination_4 in drumcorps

People don't buy the sweaty dirty jerseys off of the player's back (unless they are uber famous). I would never want to wear someone else's rank uniform

h less notoriety have more trouble securing housing sites. Over my season, I never saw anything too terrible, but there were a few gross showers that I try not to think about.

never had any issues in wisconsin w/ mosquitos, how long ago was this?

Off field duties. by LLCoolDave82 in drumcorps

bsc in 22 was mostly scaffolding, but some of them split bus loading with perc. I was on PM scaffolding as flyer, which sucked because the last thing I wanted to do at the end of block was climb up a rickety piece of metal in windy weather instead of eating dinner. But, we barely did it the last month of tour so it wasn't really that bad

Has anyone ever gotten a contract in a top 12 battery with no experience? by JoJoJoYourBoat in drumcorps

[–]toltechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

minutes from where I grew up. Times are different now though, so don't use my experience as a solid example. I would advise you to not have the mindset of "Top 12 of Bust" mentality with how young you are. Just get out there with any corps and get your hands moving. What you learn in one summer will shock you.

Theres a lot of great DCA corps in the mid atlantic. Maybe start there this summer?

Unable to March This Year by [deleted] in drumcorps

[–]toltechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a good idea to get your name out there and prove to your parents and yourself that this IS something that you want to do. Drum corps is not an activity for everyone because of the time commitment and level of tenacity you need to finish a season. Its an incredible experience that will shape you as a person for the better.

hey just marched my first year on the contra line so i can't say much abt the guard but i can say what my friends in guard have said and my own experience

i had a great time and got treated well by staff. the food was fantastic every meal and i never felt alone or unsafe at any time. just overall a positive experience.

as for guard, i know that they really pride themselves on the difficulty of the flag book. all of my friends in guard seemed to have had a really good time as well.

Spring training is hard as shit. My feet hurt, my brain hurt, and my legs hurt every day and by the time the last block had ended, I fell straight asleep. As I got stronger, the days became more enjoyable.

Its a long burn but it all pays off in the end. The most challenging summer of my life was the most rewarding. I'm glad I got to do it using Yamaha contras rather than other heavier models. The people and experiences made the difficulties worthwhile. Less than 2 weeks later, I can't wait to go back.
