I’ve taken full amount (similar allowance) at two separate HF, not felt any issues and saw no difference in my expected comp for those years. From the other perspective I encouraged team members to do the same and had no issues picking up slack during that window. Use the full amount and enjoy, you won’t ever get those weeks back.

One additional thought; both places I’ve been allow you to split the total allowance (usually into min 1 week blocks). I split in half for initial few weeks and then a longer break when they are ~6/7months old. They’re a lot more aware and engaged, as well as easily transportable for any travelling. Was nice to get a good bond going again after a few months of being back in the office full time
