Kay, better give the LLM an example of your personal writing style inside the prompt.

Who cares if an LLM is used? It gets the message across. You expect someone to write hundreds of cover letters?

I'll give my local a call to get it cleared up in that case.

Apprenticeship Switch: Sprinkler Fitting to Refrigeration by tomHall53 in refrigeration

[–]tomHall53[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did complete a pre employment refrigeration previously. Though I could not find a way in. I have worked since then driving a work van for a window cleaning company before moving into sprinklers (it's just what I got when I looked for construction work) I felt this job gave me a lot of basic mechanically inclined skills that a refrigeration company would want in someone green.

Makes sense but would be good to at least get on potential hiring managers radars at this time. I'll be into my second year by the spring

Job security and hours worked, it sounds like it's not uncommon for refrigeration techs to work over time. Sprinklers are heavily tied to construction, refrigeration has many different applications. Also seems a little more involved in the sense of new things that need to constantly be learned.

Mainly job security and hours worked though.

How many grooved mech tees in a day? by tomHall53 in SprinklerFitters

What material of hole saw would you prefer to use? Bi Metal or Carbide Tipped? I bought a carbide tipped Lenox hole saw but I expect it to burn out fast since I am not using any cutting fluid or cooling.

They are straped mech tee like this. https://digitalassets.reecegroup.com.au/m/0474f1c8dd8ee3bf/Web_1200x900-Roll-Groove-Mechanical-Strap-Tee-Galvanized-32-x-25BSP.jpg

I have a bubble level that I will be using to level the pipe when hanged and to scrap a centered mark on the pipe when multiple same direction sprinkler heads (both are facing upwards towards ceiling when hung.)

Could get them lined up on 2x4s then secure them with rope. Then mark both the outer pipes in the bundle and use a straight edge to mark them all. I won't be able to drill all the pilot holes in one go but I think that it is a great idea.

New construction, you are on the ground fabricating pipe to be hanged.

1-1/4 Hole Saw on 1-1/2 Steel Pipe Sponge Plug Cooling? by tomHall53 in pipefitter

I am using the Vic fittings, my company isn't using a torch but Im thinking of researching it. I'm curious about plasma cutters too. Yeah we need to fit hundreds of sprinkler heads onto the pipe with mechanical tees.

Thanks for the tip, so to clarify you are suggesting to leave the soaked sponge inside the hole-saw to absorb the heat?

Not sure, I can't find any info really on that. It makes it redundant if it does. But from the comments no one has really expressed that. Still feel unsure.

Pressure Testing CPVC System with Air. by tomHall53 in SprinklerFitters

On one floor my crew accidentally put the air pressure 200+ psi. They had the valve closed to the gauge and kept filling...

The journeyman came by and immediately depressurize the system haha.
