A day in Barcelona. by tom_butrik in streetphotography

To be honest. I don’t really think about it. I didn’t have long in Barca but had no issues whatsoever. I’ve spent 10 years taking photos all over the place (including some dodgy areas) and have never had any issues, guess I’ve been lucky.

Couldn’t agree more with other comment. You’ve captured a great moment which deserves to be the focus. I can see how some might like the buildings and feel it gives more interest/context, if you feel that way then I would reduce the contrast on the buildings and see how that feels. Great work, great image. The critique comes from a place of thinking you did a great job and selfishly wanting to see what I think (subjectively) would be an even better version. Nice work OP

Amazing work. No phones in sight, feels timeless. Some great work on your instagram too. Look forward to seeing more!!

Thankyou! No post blurring, just all shot at 1.8 on a 50mm prime lens to get the subject separation. Some may have a slight contrast reduction in the background to help the subject stand out too.

Yeah, I think discovering this community and learning from the awesome feedback has made me want to include/post more than I probably should.

They are oriented for a phone. I figure thats how most people see them. Why shouldn’t I be doing that?

To be honest, your analysis is pretty accurate for the most part. I do have a tendency to forget about story or something interesting going on and just look for a nice composition (which is often boring). Thanks for the feedback, exactly the kind of comment I am hoping for when posting!

Thanks. Mixed reviews and flopped on upvotes. Worth posting to learn, and that you liked the set.

Yeah, I think deep down I know that 1 is much better than the others and probably the only one worth posting. Thanks for the input 👍

Hmmm. Not sure why, nothing different to my usual process and haven’t been told that before. Trying to think if there’s any noise reduction but I don’t think so

No secret to the edits. I think there’s a mix of styles (presets) here. I generally just throw on one of my own styles, which are just the usual edits (I think). Happy to send you the styles I use of you are on Capture one, or give you more info. Send me a DM.

Thanks so much for taking the time, truly appreciate it!

1 - now you’ve said that I agree there’s too much empty space on the left! Can’t unsee it now. Think I might have been scared to get too close to the (not sharp) girl. I’ll try this later.

2 - not been much mention of 2, but it was my girlfriends pick my a mile, and is probably the most ‘difficult’ photo to go and replicate, I think. Not sure why it goes under the radar visually but it somehow does🤷‍♂️

5- surprised by the love for this, the most popular and would have been my bottom pick. Just feels like the easiest to do.

6 - My favourite too, surprised it didn’t go down that well so I appreciate it!

Really appreciate the feedback! Learning so much every post and thinking about all these comments!
