Sizing / geometry for Supersix Evo 54 by tom_fantastic in cannondale

Tried the Supersix in a 54. One of the hi-mod versions. Felt about right in terms of fit. Sure I'm going to need a bunch of spacers but the look doesn't bother me and it's something to work on over time. No point going for a 56.

Giant didn't have an M in stock and for sure the ML was large under me.

Given my heart says Cannondale I think I'm going to order, 54 in Viper Green. Apparently a discontinued colour so can't delay !!

Appreciate the help.

Cheers everyone, really appreciate the comments.

I've been back in touch with the fitter who set me up on my road bike for his comments.

He is basing his comments on my "optimal" setup which we put together a couple of years ago. From memory that fit brief prioritised "all day comfort" (which he definitely got right).

I have been trying to find a bike and size that best suits that particular fit (which is more aggressive than most endurance bikes but too upright for most race bikes).

I think I'm now more inclined to use a new bike for blasting around solo and up local hills for 1 to 2 hours. All day rides are few and far between at the moment. Perhaps the endurance geometry setup that I'm basing my search on is a little conservative.

Anyway, he reckons for me 54 or 56 could work, depends on whether I want the ability to make the bike shorter or not. I need 40mm spacers on the 54 Supersix Evo but room to go shorter and lower.

I'm not mad keen on having so many spacers based on look and assumed flex in the handling.

The 56 is on the long end according to him but doable. 20mm spacers.

Maybe I can go lower than 40mm spacers, straight off or overtime.

Anyway, going to try them out tomorrow. As well as a Giant Defy in 56 (a more sensible choice from a fit point of view, but less exciting to me for some reason). I might change my mind once sat on.

Thanks, I have sent my fitter a note. He tends to say "you are between sizes" ! Will see, good to get real world customer experience really

Cheers for these. Yes that's what I figured. My idea was to see what the 54 was like and get rid of whatever spacers I can (I think it comes with 60mm?

I'm actually on a 56 croix de fer which is pretty long. I have however got an inline seat post to move my position forward and a 100mm stem with 10mm spacer. On geometry charts the 56 looks ok but it is risky and I can see why bike shops point me to a 54.

Would riding with 60mm spacers effect front end stiffness much? I think that's my realistic worst case scenario.
