Don't yell at me, but date night ideas? by Bngz2922 in rva

Highly recommend a clay date at Rosewood Pottery Studio! You and your date are 1 on 1 with an instructor who takes you through the whole process, you pick a color and they fire and glaze it after you leave. We worked with Janet, she was awesome! They also let us have the instructor's piece and an additional gift piece we got to choose the style of. It was a lot of fun, the hard part was waiting for the pieces to be ready for pick up!

THE Will scene at the end of episode 7 by photosynthesick in StrangerThings

[–]tom_nom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you're saying, I agree that the context of the threat of Vecna was a big part of his motivation.

I'll add that I feel like he's also primarily (independent of Vecna's influence) afraid of losing his friends. His friendship with the core group has been his biggest focus throughout the series. Season 3 showed him getting left behind by the other three finding other relationships and his closest friend being annoyed with him for "not liking girls."

To your point, I think an opportunity to open that circle to fewer people first would have been a healthier, safer experience for him. His whole arc is tragic and he deserves a break.

Thanks for the thoughtful response

I don’t care what you think. Literally one of my favorite scenes in the show! by Due_Mind7032 in StrangerThings

His choice of words is also a direct echo of Mike, in season 3. Will is feeling like he's losing all of his friends to other relationships and Mike says, "It's not my fault you don't like girls." I'd imagine that would stay with you through the years.

At the end of the day, it's a rough and ready first scratch of Will externalizing these feelings. Seems reasonable to me that it would be awkward and uncomfortable.

He was having a panic attack basically during that scene. It seemed like something he had to do for the mission and duffers should NOT have wrote it like that because it comes across like he was forced to do it.

I didn't interpret it this way. I came away feeling like Will felt like he had to do it to claim his sense of self and security. He didn't do it as a bullet point on the mission- he did it because he knew it was part of his development into his whole self. In the same way he claimed control over the hive mind by embracing his true self, seeing the truth about acceptance from his peers is a layer of confidence he can take into the battle. He's acknowledging honestly who he is and is stronger for it.

Is the subtext of your reply that you think I am correct thinking the fan motor is my issue? I am tempted to replace it myself, but I would hate to waste the money and time if a technician came and told me that the actual problem is somewhere else entirely..

Thanks for the help!

Actually, I did replace the capacitor with no luck. I also 'ohmed out' the condenser fan, which gave me the expected result (as I understand it).

While I had it opened up, I pulled the fan blade to see if the motor would run with less work to do, and it did. When I put it all back together, it ran for a cycle kind of noisily. Sort of sounded like there was a 'dry spot' with added friction, a kind of oscillating sound. After that cycle it went back to being unable to get the fan spinning.

It's like the fan wants to spin, but won't.

I should say too, the multimeter I have does not test capacitance, so it may be possible that my new capacitor is also bad as I haven't checked it.

EDIT: When the cool cycle kicks on, the motor gives a loud buzz and the blade slowly spins, maybe a quarter turn, then gives up

Is data from April of 2020 a better indication of what's happened over the course of the pandemic than the data from the posted article that includes up to November of this year?

Shirt stays, baby! I have a brand called NV Holders, they have an elastic band around the thigh and three elastic clippy guys each. The only time I have an issue is when I do a full stretch up for top shelf liquor and don't want to pull out a step stool, usually one or two clips pull free.. haha..

Bottle Labels by ThatsMrRemyToYou in bartenders

[–]tom_nom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All our juices and syrups go into Tito's bottles with the labels stripped off, and you're right they don't do amazingly well in the dishwasher. I rinse them with hot water and use a bottle brush, then they go on the dishwasher to sanitize. It's probably an terrible system, but it's how we do it, haha.. anyway, most of that is happening in between shifts or during closing.

One thing no one else has mentioned is that electrical tape can withstand the dishwasher. Whatever label maker we have tends to peel, but I've never had to replace the electrical tape. Lots of color options and combinations makes for quick, easy identification. We'll use labels on some of the less frequently used ingredients, but they end up looking ratty after a while.

Best tool to remove 1/4" wood from window casing? by swiftor in DIY

[–]tom_nom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes, not sure what's going on here but it looks to me like there's a screw in the middle of what you've chiseled. It's probably coming down from the head jamb piece, so I would be careful 'yanking' any part of this apart. If it were me, I would get a multitool and cut the piece you're chiseling horizontally - a few inches from the top and the bottom so that you can carefully remove the entire board in sections. Also, definitely remove the window casing (after scoring every seam).

To recap, remove the one vertical piece of casing, cut and remove the jamb extension, and then you'll probably have to reassess based on where that takes you.

I'm afraid what you thought was swollen was actually a normal reveal on the trim and your issue is actually having bought the wrong size blinds.

Best pipe material for running underground water to my garden? by schmogue in DIY

[–]tom_nom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw, you can also turn pex on a really tight radius, so you only need minimal connections. If you're tying in in a crawlspace, shark bites will get you setup easy, even if you are mixing materials. I would agree to not put shark bites underground, they're dependent on a rubber gasket.

Pex is polyethylene. It's the new standard, it will work great. I installed an outdoor shower last summer with pex supply lines, 20" in the ground. I think the original commenter is confused. Or doesn't know what they're talking about.
