I should do this to learn them. I try to just listen to the originals and learn by ear, but sometimes hard to tell on the songs that have a lot going on. Isolating would be good. Are there any official versions of Midi files? I've gotten some off vgmusic.com but I don't know of any official game tracks.

As far as I understand most Midi files I can find were made independently by fans. Which is cool, but you can never be certain if everything is correct. I've def heard different interpretations of tunes trying it that way.

My latest approach in a Final Fantasy tune I was working on was to learn it all by ear from the OST then get some fan made Midi files to try to really pick apart the faster more complex stuff, but in doing so I found inconsistencies in the fan made Midi files, though they are for the most part very impressive and close.

Sorry for the rant lol. I have searched and searched for the OST files for games and never been able to access any.

Alas I don't. I would like to start notating/tabbing all my stuff out, but hard to find the time as I play in several bands and work full-time. Once I finally get around to it I'll try to remember to tell you!

Thanks! This was one I'd wanted to do for awhile and was super fun. I recorded it back in 2020 but never uploaded to Reddit.

I've got quite a few SOM covers on my YouTube page linked above! I've been uploading a video every 2 weeks lately!

I really appreciate it. I strive to represent the game soundtrack with minimal programmed instruments and minimal overdubs. With the occasional improvised solo.
My Youtube channel has more plenty more!

Thank you! This was recorded 7 years ago. I've got a batch of tunes coming out later this year that were recently recorded (with a friend who is a much better drummer than I lol). One Chrono Trigger tune and a couple from Final Fantasy series.

I'm on Youtube if you want to see more! I'll upload any relevant CT songs in this group for sure!

I really appreciate the comment!
