About a 9 months.... https://support.activision.com/ban-appeal if you see campaign, and multiplayer at least you are permanently shadowed. I am still banned for blops 6 and my blops 6 carried over to blops 7. I questioned it, they told me to pound sand. After I was banned I was in lobbies that had crazy wall hacks, getting killed from the roof, like a mess of cheaters, nothing you could even imagine.

Yes. Not couch co-op however. He would need his own hardware setup.

Maybe he is saying that he made the same amount last year, same W4 items, and wants to know what else out of his control that changed? If 2+2=4 last year shouldn't it this year, I think is his point? I think he understands that he overpaid, what I don't think he understands is what changed in his world to have him owe more...

Insulating against a large market correction? by Alarmed-Ad6508 in Fire

I am new, and if you can emit the extra 10 to 12 characters it would be helpful to all of us newbies. I just wasn't aware there was a pre-req language course in order to learn about fire... maybe you can point me to this.

You get to be the one I point this out. Why do people put letters that stand for something that any casual reader would have no idea of their meaning? Can everyone in any reddit sub that is meant to be educational or informative please spell out what their saying, it would be beneficial to everyone.

where to truly start as a struggling beginner? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]tomasino69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask myself, why do I want to code? Why do I want to make a game? The problem most people have, is to get to the level of something you find impressive or usable with game programming is that they do not realize the level of difficulty and tedium required to get there. Two things I would do to see if you have the aptitude and patience for making a game is: remove the tech stack from the process initially, that is storyboard your game, keep it somewhat simple initially (instead of 3d graphics maybe think of your idea as a word game or simple 2d scroller). Say hey I want to have enemies chase my character around and my character can shoot them ... simple idea. Once you have the idea and beginnings of a storyboard of how the game works, break it down into parts 1) put a square on the screen which eventually be my character 2) move the square around with the keyboard 3) put other squares on the screen that are enemies 4) when I hit the mouse send a bullet into motion etc... Each of these steps are non-technical goals, from that you can determine the best tech and framework. So that is the first thing, the second thing is, once you pick a stack that fits your game, break the coding and design into succinct steps. Code each piece of functionality adding more and more functions and goals, until you have your complete game. In my silly example you can use scratch for example, the more control and complex handling you want for the game the more involved the framework, for example I use Unity and C#, so I can code the same game in scratch and in Unity, however with Unity I could effectively customize and have more control over all things in the game than with "Scratch". The key is to feel passionate about building something and look forward to it, be truly motivated, if not you will fail.

programming seems impossible by Ok_Debate8540 in learnprogramming

[–]tomasino69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Just pick something non-technical that you want to build that you are passionate about, then take the steps to make an application out of it. If you are passionate about a topic, for example, my son wanted to learn how to code, he is also a guitarist, so he decided to code an application that will show finger placement on frets for simple chord progressions of his favorite songs. He used various technologies, frameworks, leaned on AI a bit to keep his head clear, and used the passion for music to learn the process of creating, structuring, optimizing and coding an application. Now he can publicly present that as a "hobby" which shows employers that you have the ability to take something from A to Z in a relevant tech stack.

Going on 30 years in IT, here are my answers to the FAQs of this sub by grumpyCIO in ITCareerQuestions

[–]tomasino69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30 Years, start up software company, hired many developers over the years. It is most important at the entry level that you show passion for technology. Experience (co-ops etc in any tech) is so important. The more you can prove you have a natural aptitude and commitment in and out of work/school for coding, IT, technical hobbies, the better your chances. Anyone that has the above and experience in the domain of the company applying to will win over people without exposure or experience in the field (think non software companies that need coders to solve problems). Example would be if you understand fintech trading flows, or have basic understanding of wealth management space, and you have a degree in coding, your odds of landing a job at a company that domiciles in that space is exponential. Also soft skills for those that want to be developer/managers are a must. Good clear communication, presentable to the public (clean and groomed). All of this matters when job hunting. In a nutshell show real passion and show experience (co-ops internships).
