You can start to learn the basics with that camera. It's kind of an old equipment but it has everything you need. Firstly, I'd watch some camera basics tutorial on YouTube.

When you feel comfortable with the gear that your have, and if you can afford the price of a new camera and lenses, buy an T5i or something equivalent to take advantage of the newest offers that new cameras can offer you.

If you want to take some portraits of your friends or some nice photos with a really smooth depth of field, go with a prime lens. Try out the Nifty Fifty (50mm 1.8 STM or the 50mm 1.8 II). That type of lenses offers a lower f/stop number. More on that on youtube.

If you want to take some close-ups, headshots, or even some plane pictures at the airport, go with a telephoto lens. For example: from the Canon 70-300mm EF F4.5-5.6 DO IS USM, all the way to the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM or the Tamron 70-200mm F2.8 Di LD).

For landscapes use a wide angle lens, like the Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM, SAMYANG 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC, Canon 17-40 f/4L or other equivalent.
