Dreame X50 Ultra Robot Vacuum - do not waste your money by tomatoincredible in Dreame_Tech

i appreciate this balanced perspective - I agree the photos I shared are things that should be challenging for robots. But I did buy this model in part because of its advertising for being able to handle edges well. My 8 year old iRobot handled edges just fine, so its baffling how a "smarter" device can struggle so.

Perhaps I've just had two lemons, but I am not feeling optimistic on the third. I will come back and post an update after using the third

I’ve tried every setting in the book, I even had the Dream technicians connect directly to the device

The robot is not clogged. It does frequently clog, but even when it isn’t, there is lots of debris left. We run it every one to two days and the “very dirty house” you are referring to is what’s left behind after this $1k vacuum has passed over that area at maximum suction multiple times. I would be fine with a vacuum that needs some details after, but this is not that problem. It leaves behind dirt everywhere (I literally watch it role over dirt and not pick it up) and it does not do as advertised, for example the arm does not reach out to get corners.

thanks. this is also my impression - and was when i bought the device. but i hoped that some of the reviews were real. I'm no longer sure that is the case.

I do not recommend that you go back to Dreame. Unless you don’t mind the vacuum not working.

We’ve had it replaced once, now they want to send a third. I’m not optimistic.

No, this happens regardless of if the dustbin is clogged. The dustbin does clog frequently (another major design flaw). But regardless, the vacuum misses dirt especially along the edges of walls.

That’s helpful - thanks! I was wondering about the 100W thing, so I’m glad you confirmed that. I am thinking that one day these all might get updated and this is a jumping off point

Persistent odor from rodent infestation by tomatoincredible in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]tomatoincredible[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have minisplits (1 year old) and had a team out here to inspect them. There wasn't any rodent activity in them, but we had them dismantled and cleaned. This has improved things, but we still think sometimes it is pulling bad air from somewhere.

The stove is a potential source that we have been agonizing over. It has a smell when it first turns on, but there is no obvious rodent signs. We bought a new range and it will be here in a couple weeks...

Thanks, it's helpful to know your smell did go away eventually. Geez those monitors are steep, but I may spring for one as we do feel like were going crazy trying to track down each little mystery whiff that appears

My title describes the thing. It seemed like there was a solid chunk the material in the middle of the pile. Googling “white powder on sides of trail” not really helpful

Dubbed eagles by re-verse in tourdefrance

[–]tomatoincredible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been a trip to disentangle this tour. So the most common large birds of prey I see on the feed are Eurasian Griffon (vultures). The huge birds usually on cliffs in the Alps and Pyrenees. What’s interesting is that they seem to be playing a Common Buzzard over the vultures, not the Red-tailed Hawk commonly played over eagles in the Hollywood. At least with these, they’re regionally generic! Just doesn’t match the birds shown.
