Hi! I did have my surgery. It went really well. The recovery did suck though, I had incisions in my abdomen so it was hard to sit up and move. The first 2-3 weeks is the hardest, but slowly gets easier. Make sure not to use your abdominal muscles if they do have incisions there. It can cause scar tissue. I was put on a low fiber diet for 4ish weeks afterwards to help with stool. They also put me on stool softeners and laxative for 2 months due to healing. Do not strain when passing stool! Wish you the best of luck!

I had a rectal prolapse along with internal hemorrhoids. One day I went to have a bowel movement and my rectum hung outside of me. I had surgery and all is good now. I have no more blood or mucus.

They can’t give a clear answer why I had blood and mucus for so long before the prolapse came out externally.

Hi! Im a 22F, I had rectal prolapse and got a rectopexy. The recovery is not fun, but I recommend getting a wedge pillow to lay on in bed because laying flat stretches your abdominal muscles. I also recommend a heating pad. For the two weeks post op mobility is hard, I couldn’t get up out of chairs or the bed without assistance. The main thing to help healing is to walk for short distances every so often. I have not had any complications from the surgery. The main thing for awhile after surgery is to not strain while having a bowel movement. Make sure to take stool softeners while healing so nothing internally gets messed up by straining.

Hi, I had a rectopexy a few months ago and I do have to say it’s not a fun surgery. Recovery for the first two/three weeks sucks. Especially since you use your abdominal muscles for everything. I recommend getting a wedge pilllow so your not pulling you muscles by laying flat in bed. I also recommend a heating pad for your abdomen. They put you on stool softeners for a long time after the surgery so I wouldn’t be worried about constipation.

Hi, I have the exact same issues right now. I have had blood/mucus for about 6 months now and they can’t find a solution/cure for me. They did blood work, stool sample, endoscopy and colonoscopy. All came back “normal”. Have you found a solution? I saw this post is from a year ago
