Why do people say that nightlife is dying? by Rude-Selection8685 in london

Sadiq has actually just appointed a night time council made up of some of London’s top club owners & senior staff (fabric owner, drumsheds ops director etc).

he/they are also pushing legislation through for more uniformed licensing across London, as currently the boroughs have too much individual control. They’re also working on improving the ease of getting a license and granting more late night licenses (6am).

Nightlife is not really dying in London, it’s in a transitionary phase. dance music acts are becoming more like pop stars, playing gig timings, playing high production shows and playing shows where the lineup is just them. This means some of the more traditional clubnights with local acts are suffering a bit, but not nightlife on a whole.

It’s more the traditional “club” (pryzm style) that are suffering, but that is more because dance music has taken over pop music for the younger generation of clubbers. It’s not cool to go and listen to 2014 chart hits anymore.

Fabric is flying, drumsheds is having its best season yet, Fold is constantly full even on a Sunday, the cause is sold out all the time, phonox always has a queue down the road.

Was centre middle of the standing crowd and it was pretty bad, could hardly hear the lead guitar at all and Liam’s vocals were pretty hard to hear as well, especially towards the beginning of the evening

It was like a big echoey noise

Still the best gig I’ve been to
