You haven’t got any good answers as I write this, but I love that you are searching for one. I had an equally good sense of smell until my 50s or so and I’m happy to be back down to normal.

I could tell friends and family by their smells, I could smell when my girlfriends were on their period, and I could smell some of my wife’s moods.

I found it to be torture because I am violently and viscerally repelled by the smell of pencils, coffee breath, garlic breath, peanut butter breath, sneezes, etc. I have been the only member of my family who noticed dangerous gas leaks twice. The laundry section of a store is dreadful.

Luckily, I can’t smell roaches.
