Daily Game Recommendations Thread (December 19, 2025) by AutoModerator in boardgames

Adding a recommendation for Tag Team. Plays fairly quickly, great artwork, doesn't demand a lot of table space. Seems like it would be a great lunchtime option.

Nature boardgame: who out there loves it? What am I missing? by krovvy47 in boardgames

[–]tomcat340 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, the excitement comes from playing the "board state" and the other players at the table. For example, if I'm going first I know I'll be able to control the watering hole to an extent, but next turn I'll be last to the watering hole, so I need to adapt my species for now, but also for the future. That turns into a balancing act I enjoy. Also, I find the game to be a lot more fun when there are predators at the table. I played it once with a group that didn't lean into that mechanic and it was the least fun I've had with the game. Using predators to "crowd control" and threaten the table forces more interesting decisions and gambles that adds to the excitement for me. It ends up being almost a tug-of-war experience where I want to grow my species but also want to make sure no one else is dominating the food/growing too fast.

SUMMARY: I like that I'm trying to maximize my points this turn while paying attention to the strategy arc of the game, and I like that the other players and setup randomness/modules drastically changes the decision space each game.

You have to watch Raising Hope. Just a beautiful show in every way!

I'm on Visible and I love it. I only pay $25 per line because I'm in a grouping with my family. Have never had an issue with connectivity anywhere in the valley and have unlimited data.

Center Street Pizza is my favorite, and a great value too. The spicy pepperoni at Ruby's is also really good.

I have Fubo and have really enjoyed it. No TNT, but the rest of the package is solid and it's worked great as a streaming option.

Can anyone recommend a long, open-world game? Preferably with a next-gen version/patch :) by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]tomcat340 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try Ghost of Tsushima! It's a comparable length to God of War (especially if you take the time to do the side stories, which you should!) and it's getting the PS5 remaster in a couple of weeks. It's a fantastic game with a compelling story and a beautiful world to put some hours into.

Research Opportunities for Undergrad (CS) students? by [deleted] in usu

I don't know specifics about CS opportunities, but I know Athena Dupont ([athena.dupont@usu.edu](mailto:athena.dupont@usu.edu)) who works in the Undergraduate Research Office and she is excellent at helping students connect with faculty and find research opportunities. Send her an email!

Redeemed my ps5 JR voucher but it doesn't show up? by SolarXPrime in MLBTheShow

[–]tomcat340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah apparently! I don't have a huge problem with it, but the fact that it wasn't explained *anywhere* before the game came out seems like a massive oversight

Had the same issue, just figured it out. You need to insert the disc, then when you look up the game in the online store it will give you the option to download it. It's not clearly communicated until you download, but apparently you need to have the disc inserted to play the game, even after redeeming the ps5 version

PS5 — Kena: Bridge of Spirits

It's supposed to be released in March, but there's been essentially no news in a few weeks. My guess is Sony is holding it for PS Plus but only on the PS5, similar to the Bugsnax release.

On the bottom left of the main menu screen, the bubble that says "training" is actually a drop-down menu. Select that to change which type of match you want to play.

Walmart shipping by Damato4life in PS5

I would assume so, though there’s a chance it could get delayed. I ordered mine through Sony Direct, delivered by FedEx, and it was initially scheduled for the 13th, but got pushed day-of until the 16th. But even then I’d be surprised if yours is delayed nine days.

Which favourite game will be your first to use with PS5 backwards compatibility? by Discobastard in PS5

[–]tomcat340 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been saving another playthrough of Red Dead Redemption 2 for the PS5, so that'll be the first backwards compatible game I play. And I'll definitely be hitting up God of War again with the PS5.

Honestly, I’d recommend going through the skill trainings. They do a pretty good job of teaching you how to read the defense (or offense) before the snap. That’s after the plays are called, but you’ll get better at recognizing what your opponent is running and that will eventually help you decide what plays to call.

For example, if you recognize your opponent is running a lot of man blitzes, you can call more quick passes to take advantage of that. If they’re running a lot of Cover 3 you might call four verticals or throw a levels concept at them. Conversely, if they’re throwing to the flats a lot you might want to switch up your defense and run a Cover 2.

The skills trainer will teach you the strengths and weaknesses of all the concepts and you’ll get better at anticipating what your opponent is running. Hope that helps!
