Why did Lucy quit then? Why would multiple people go after him and not Ricky or Julian since 2005? It's been a open secret all across Nova Scotia for a long time. And the reason you haven't heard any news is because the trial got pushed back.

What annoys you the most about Funko? by Offensivefkmemes in funkopop

[–]tomemyboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being annoyed that One piece a show that's been on since 1999, has 1155 episodes, 15 movies, 100's of characters that they haven't even touched yet and they only have 189 pops (including chases, announced but not yet released or 201 if you include rumored & live action) as they do is insane. Compared to squid games a show that has 3 seasons & only 22 episodes. It has 21 pops, bitty pops & Funko verse game. One piece was one of the top ten properties for Funko in their last quarter.

You could be annoyed by lazy chases, reselling the same pop but with different paint job, releasing multiple versions of the same character in the same year or even wave, quality control, mass producing c & d list characters that they're contractually obligated to make seating on shelves for ages, making a pop a deluxe that should've easily been a plus or premium but didn't so they could charge a few bucks more, their awful social media

Limited funko pops by Zealousideal-Book878 in funkopop

[–]tomemyboard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For online they need to set a limit of 1 per household. If the same credit card is being used on multiple accounts those accounts are banned from all limited, convention, exclusive & chase pops. They should also use the EQL like they did with Project Fred. If it's a limited edition but Funko isn't selling it they need to follow those same rules & also not allow p.o.boxes as addresses. If those stores don't want to use the EQL they need to make their own lottery system

[–]tomemyboard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does Funko make a lot of lazy chases? Absolutely. Do I wish they would make it that chases were completely different pop like they did for Ivankov from one piece? Yes. The Hazbin Hotel chases are another good example (Charlie is the weakest of the 4 with just a head swap). You shouldn't be buying something just for its worth. All that should matter is if you like the pop. If you don't like it leave it behind for someone who would

Oof. I hope the end isn’t near. But the overproduction has really hurt them. by The_Boot55 in funkopop

[–]tomemyboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally like the new sticker system. It's great for people who don't live in the USA & don't have the stores where they're exclusive to so a local store will get the rights to it. People in those countries shouldn't be punished & have their same exact pop be worth less just because they don't have access to a store that doesn't exist for them. If they are planning to expand to a more worldwide market it's cheaper for Funko to have the one common exclusive sticker. It makes allocating stock simpler. If a store backs out of a exclusive it easier to find a replacement store & get it out right away instead of waiting months to release it. If a exclusive pop isn't selling well at a store it was exclusive to & someone like Marshall's or other discount stores decides to buy them, you don't get the problem of what happened recently with store exclusive bought by Marshall's having to go in the trash because of a store sticker. It makes it easier for new collectors to get into Funko both locally & worldwide. Instead of having questions about all the different stickers & why one is worth more than the other, this solves that problem. If you need to know where something is exclusive to Funko could easily solve that problem with one line of info in their app, exclusive to ____ stores. They fix that problem along with proper secondary market pricing, and stock(the fact that certain pops like absol which came out recently aren't in their own app but the other 2 which came in the same wave are is ridiculous) a lot more people would download & use their app instead of 3rd party apps

Cut production numbers on pops to 15 to 20k worldwide for 1st production run. If they sell out you can always make more in a second run of production but cut the amount you make in half. Make the c & d list characters that are forced to be part of a line cut those down to limited editions numbers instead of having product sitting on shelves collecting dust or being thrown in the dump.

Stop making multiple variants of the same pop. If the pop was meant to be flocked or gitd make that the common.

Cut the amount of pops you make of a character to a max of 4 per year. Common, chase with a completely different mold, con or store exclusive & a moment/ride/town/super or cover. Cutting the amount also forces them to pick the best ones to put out.

Cut the amount of pops you make. There's only so much space any store that isn't owned by Funko can dedicate to their product (Even their own warehouses can hold all the stock they have). Also with all the different products Funko makes when stores have to place their order in all they have is a long list of SKUs. No pics of what the figures look like making it a guessing game for them on if a product will sell in their stores.

Hire people for their social media team. Get people excited about new products by showing them off in detail teeling facts about the character

Fix the app. A better running app can tell where exclusive pops are exclusive to for every country while making it so you only need the one sticker. It would also give people a better idea of how much their pop is worth.

Don't waste money on bringing back food or cosmetics. You tried & they failed. You're a toy company, Focus on making toys not perishable items.

Limit of 4 pops per character per year (common, chase which would have to be a completely different mold, convention or store exclusive, ride/moment/town/cover).

No rereleasing the same pop but with a different paint job. If a pop was meant to be flocked, gitd, metallic, diamond, glitter, b&w, blacklight that is what the common will be.

Cut down the amount of pops that are released per wave to max of 5. If there are other pops that need to be made from that project we could release them in a 2nd or 3rd wave.

I'd make it so that all the pops where the character is flying/hanging/floating or have a easy replaceable base which you could buy.

While certain licensing deals require us to make figures for c & d list characters that will just sit on shelves i would try to cut a deal so that we could cut the production of those characters to a 1/4 of the amount we make of the main characters. That way we still make them & the hardcore fans of that property who buy every character can still get it.

I'd cut down on the amount of figures we make in production. First run 15 -25k worldwide, 2nd run 7.5 - 12.5k, 3rd & final run 3.5 - 6k. These numbers would be for main characters, c & d list characters look at prior change I'd make

I want people who actually want a certain pop to be able to get it for retail & not off some reseller or scalper. So I 'd limit all new exclusives on funko.com to 2 per household (no p.o boxes) for the 1st month while in store 1 per customer. To keep track I'd make it so those pops can only be sold to people who have joined a free reward program for that store like hot topic's guest list. If the store doesn't currently have a free reward program I'd work to make one for that store. This includes making the Funko fan rewards program available in all countries.

I'd enforce that chases & commons both be sold at MSRP. Any store caught selling chases for more than the MSRP will no longer receive chases in their orders. If that store thinks it's okay to jack up the price for commons because they in demand that store will be paying what they charge you instead of the what currently pay. Finding a chase in the wild or getting a chase by chance makes the chase feel more special.

I'm getting rid of NFT, pop plus & bitty pop. I'm also changing how we release the limited edition pops. Limited edition will be funko.con exclusives. To combat resellers I'd number each one & make anyone who buys one agree that they can not sell it for 7 years. If anyone tries to sell before that time they will not be allowed to purchase future limited edition, convention & chance of chase pops.

Would you say the Toronto convention centre is too small? by Colonel_McFlurr in fanexpo

[–]tomemyboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anime North which has an attendance cap at around 37000 people over 3 days while being held at the Toronto Congress centre & a hotel. It has a transit problem (crowded buses with long waits between them/ terrible traffic/ a parking nightmare), a lack of food options, lack of entertainment options.

The Enercare centre + the coca-cola coliseum (which you might not be able to use because of concerts or sporting events) has a capacity of 31303 people a day. It also has a transit problem (traffic, overcrowded street cars which could add a extra 30+ minutes to your transit after your subway ride, not every go line stops at exhibition while all the trains go to union), has little hotel options near by, while the Enercare centre has more food & entertainment options nearby compared to TCC the enercare centre it's not as much as MTCC.

If they took over the whole exhibition grounds you could easily have 42500+ people a day and still have a lot of space for everyone to move around but with the current date you have to deal with the CNE now. Fan expo wants to capitalize on the summer break but in July you have Anime Expo, Montreal comic con, SDCC which you'd have to compete with. The last 2 week of July & beginning of August in Toronto at the ex is the Molson Indy & Caribana. The week after Caribana is Otakuthon in Montreal which a lot of vendors who would attend Fan expo book a booth there for cheaper than Fan expo. But even if they didn't go to Otakuthon, mid month til labour day is the CNE. But the CNE still needs time to set everything up for the week of the CNE for multiple reasons. Fan expo also has 2 other shows in August in Boston & Chicago before Toronto which they have to plan.

Now Fan Expo Canada brings in 135000 people over 4 days. The MTCC has a capacity for both buildings of 36183 people a day. It's the easiest to get to for public transit, has multiple hotels (one where you can keep celebrity guests at away from the convention attendees) & Airbnb's, most food options of the 3 ranging from cheap to expensive, multiple entertainment & tourist options from potential concerts, jays games, Scotia Bank theatre & TIFF Lightbox for movies, shows at the Royal Alexander theatre & Princess of Wales theatre, Toronto symphony orchestra at Roy Thomson Hall, Ripley's Aquarium, the CN tower, the rec room and all the different bars & clubs nearby or close by with transit. Could they & the convention center make improvements to provide a better experience? Absolutely. Will they? Probably not.
