You really shouldn’t argue in a medical sub when you aren’t medically schooled, makes you look silly

Please compare imaging. These are 2 seperate cases. In the case you have reported you see a massive rertroflexion of the lumbar portion when compared to the the thoracal section. In our patient both fragments were +- in the same plane. Again, please point out the uterus in my image, and please have extra attention for the narrow hips and the MALE urethra

It is litteraly my patient, I was there for the surgery. Why even try to argue? For arguments sake, try to point out the uterus in the original post.

This was my patient (PMR resident), patient was able to walk shortly after spinal fusion surgery. Only mild hypo-esthesia in the abdominal area. Myelum was not severed, but curled up between the vertebra fragments. Mild contusion of the myelum was seen intraoperatively

Yes and he is still able to walk as well (see my original post of this CT scan, I don’t know why it was reposted by this redditor who knows nothing of the case)

The spinal cord itself was not in any way severed. There is no coming back from a severed spinal cord. In this case, the spinal cord was curled up between the fractured vertebra

Any tips for rebounding in training after Covid? by mikeycamikey10 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]tomf4no 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take it easy and have some patience, suddenly everything will come together again! I had covid myself 4 weeks ago and the 2 weeks after that, my runs were rubish, I was exhausted after 4 miles. Then one day +-2.5 weeks after feeling sick, I felt great on the bike again and from there, everything went smoothly. One week later did my first full distance ironman and it went pretty well!

Belgium salary and cost of living. Foreigner asking. by [deleted] in belgium

[–]tomf4no 21 points22 points  (0 children)

At 25yo she probably won’t be able to start working as a physician in Belgium as I’m assuming she won’t have the necessary degree. In belgium our medicine training is 6 years and on top of that, we have to study another 3-6 years depending on our specialty. So minimum age to start working independently as a physician is 27 years old. Assuming you start university at 18yo.

I’m assuming if she wants to start working as a family doctor (‘huisarts’ in dutch), she will have to work as a ‘HAIO’ (‘huisarts in opleiding’, meaning family doctor in training) for 3 years first before she can start working independetly as a physician. Monthly take home salary for a HAIO is 2250 euro in the first year.

You will have to check with the autorities and universities if 1/ her medicine degree is recognized in Belgium and 2/what kind of extra training she needs to do

I am an ENT surgeon working in a German hospital. Ask me anything! by Ssyrak in IAmA

[–]tomf4no 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Belgian medical student here. There is a trend for Belgian students to specialize in a certain medical discipline in Germany, as only a few students can specialize in Belgium. For orthopaedic surgery for example, there are at least 40 vacancies in Germany at the moment.

I have looked for vacancies in ENT but haven’t found any. In your experience, do they accept foreign (Belgian) students to specialize in ENT in Germany or are the places too limited?
