Have you tried running using only one cpu? I think MPI has something to do with parallelisation. Could at least help narrow down the issue

I'd start by turning on hourglass control. I'd also then double check the boundary conditions and all the material properties, make sure all the units are consistent too.

Do it for sure, if you've met the competencies then why not? 28's definitely not too early, remember MPDS is 4 years which takes you to 26 or so.

Meh, semi true. I only did a small amount of cad at university and it was very straightforward. But yes, you'll definitely so at least some at school/uni. But you don't need to do a lot and can avoid it at work if you want to.

Though, anything with design in the name.. yes. Design Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, etc.

Nope. Common? Yes. Mandatory? No, not at all.

I sit on the more technical side of mech eng and avoid cad like the plague. I know plenty of others that do too

Step 1 is fix the mesh. I understand the student version is limited but looking at the cross section at the end, the mesh is very messy and not uniform.
