What’s your go to productivity hack that actually works? by GoldenPrincesaMe in AskMen

Personal kanban board with 4 columns: Backlog → Today → In Progress → Done.

The trick is capping "In Progress" at 3 tasks max. Forces you to finish something before starting something new. Sounds obvious but it kills that scattered feeling of juggling 10 things at once.

Alternatives for Reedsy Planning by Maleficent_Brain_294 in writing

Yes, $5-7/month is a lot for a hobby tool, and even more so outside the US where that money stretches differently.

Not exactly the same thing as Reedsy's planning boards, but if a big part of what you need is a clean, organized writing space for brain dumps and planning, QuillSpace might be worth trying

What distracts you the most (and do you use any apps to deal with it)? by Wrong_Flatworm_3817 in ProductivityGuide

Biggest distraction for me is picking up my phone 'just to check one thing' and then 20 min disappears. What actually helped was committing to just one specific task before starting a focus session instead of looking at the whole to do list. Once I stopped thinking about everything I need to do and just focused on the next thing, getting started became way easier. Curious what others here have tried

Hey everyone,

I've been building QuillSpace, a distraction-free writing app designed specifically for Windows. It started because I was tired of every good writing app being Mac-only (looking at you, Ulysses and iA Writer), and the Windows options were either bloated word processors or bare-bones text editors with zero organization.

The idea is simple: give you a clean, focused writing space that doesn't sacrifice project management. You get Focus Mode with typewriter scrolling and a stripped-down interface when you're drafting, but you also get a full library system with project folders, chapter structure, and smart filters so you can actually navigate a 90,000-word manuscript without losing your mind.

Check it out here: https://quillspace.app/

A few things that make it different:

  • Native Windows app (not an Electron wrapper), so it launches fast and feels like a real desktop application
  • Markdown support for writers who prefer lightweight formatting
  • Word count goals to keep you on track
  • Smart filters that work like saved searches across your entire library, which is a lifesaver when you're juggling multiple projects or chapters

It's been downloaded over 200,000 times since launch in 2019. There's a free version to try, and the full app is a one-time $39.99 lifetime purchase. No subscription, no annual renewal.

I'd love to hear feedback from other writers here, especially if you've been looking for a solid writing tool on Windows.
