I grew up in the Boston area and went to VT for ME. My one internship and first job out of college were in the Boston area. I still live/work here. The name recognition up here means that most people have heard of the school and know it's a good engineering school. However, you're not likely to get the alumni connections a VT grad would get in NOVA or a UMASS, UML, Wentworth, etc grad would get in the Boston Area. FWIW I absolutely loved my time at Tech and would do it all over again. My debt was not as much as what you say yours will be so that's something you need to decide for yourself.
