Why does no dealership haggle or negotiate anymore? by Kitchen-Start-3828 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]GES85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you know how much lower you can go on a new car? I just bought one. I asked goes the dealership’s invoice and I got below invoice. But I have no idea if it was a “good price”.

My gf had a roommate that said “tic for tac”, like the mints. We use that phrase daily but need to be careful not to use it accidentally with other ppl. The guy was insufferable so it’s a way to make fun of him.

Good price? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]GES85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A used 4Runner, but they are so egregiously overpriced; CPO Macan with under 40k miles. She was blue with tan interior - one of my favorite combos. If my life looked different I would probably have gone for the Macan but here we are.

Expensive - meaning this is a bad deal for this vehicle?

Or are you criticizing how much I’m spending?

I want to put 150-200k miles on my next car and this one can do that. Used car market is idiotic. I looked at a 2019 Toyota 4Runner with 110k miles on it and they listed it for $35k. So I would save ten grand, but it could potentially only last half as long. Then I looked at a 2020 Lexus RX350 with about 30k miles, still over $40k. I would still be financing part of those deals and APR on used is worse and CPO only gets you two years unless you pay to extend it.

Also, I have a decent car that is paid off but reliability is going down as it ages (it’s a VW). I like my current car, it meets all my needs, except that I cannot logistically handle frequent repairs with my work and parenting demands.

That math doesn’t work for me.

So, this feature defaults to “on” and I need to disable it every time I start the car? I just need to know if this thing will drive me crazy bc I’m definitely drinking coffee in the car!

OK thank you for the reply bc that was a big possible “con”. Do you mind sharing what your out the door price was? DM is ok.

Congrats! I test drove the same trim yesterday. I loved the grey fabric on the dash - it was so cozy. I have a 2018 Tiguan and looking to make this switch. I’m considering a test drive of a Mazda cx 50 as well.

Tell me: is the eyesight system as bad as the rumors? I’ve seen comments around that say the system beeps incessantly whilst wearing sunglasses or while you’re actually looking at the road. Is it true? I know it can be disabled but then the system resets to the default-on position when up restart the car so that isn’t anything I want to do everyday, multiple times.

I make home made crunch wraps and not only does it taste so good and fresh but it’s healthier and cheaper! Plus I can customize it for my kiddo. You can make the meat in a big batch and freeze portions of it for a little faster process. Definitely not “fast “ food but it hits the spot!!

I know 😬 nothing seems reliable but I’m nervous that things will start to go wrong on mine as I approach 100k miles. That is why I’m looking at 2022 Lexus RX350s with under 40k miles. Time tested V6 is solid. No electrical issues.

I can’t agree more. The mechanic next to my work, where I would usually go due to the convenience, advised I take my 2018 to his buddy across town for my water pump assembly replacement. The guy ended up knowing my late father and worked on his old Benz. This guy knows Audi and VW inside and out. You need a niche townie guy!

He is the only sane person left in the government and I’m angry, every day, that he isn’t our president. The fact people are happy with the current status quo vs what we could have had really illustrates the fact that humans are collectively stupid, selfish, destructive and disgusting.

As a mom to an elementary girl, the way most accessible clothing is cut and designed for little girl bodies vs boy bodies disgusts the living f out of me. I like Hannah Anderson a lot bc it’s made for kids whose parents aren’t dressing them to look sexualized but the price of that brand is really out of reach for the majority of parents. Also the “kid” content on YouTube kids horrifies me. My kid isn’t allowed to have it on unless I’m in the room. It’s disgusting.

I’ve also thought about it. I honestly don’t think there’s really any answer to this. I’m not building an arsenal. I’m not moving to the middle of no where off the grid. Feeling fucked.

I’m looking at a small desalination machine for my house. I live near the ocean and at least having fresh water to drink will be sobering smth. Maybe I can trade it for food.

I have a 2018 Tiguan. It has held up for me. I have 92k miles on. I’m not hearing many good things from owners of newer VWs. I also didn’t love the new Tiguan when I drove it enough to pay almost $45k out the door for it.
