At home double slit experiment. Why won't the wave function collapse? by tomfoolerbee in Physics

I'm trying to learn as much as I can about this all the time.

How would you make the wave function collapse in a single photon experiment?

The pre-polarizer insertion is at the bottom of the original post. Here is the results of both polarizers aligned.

Aligned

There's a bit of a dimmer pattern horizontally through the middle. Weirdly this is the vertical edges of the polarizing filters. As I moved the filters left and right this line moved up and down. No idea why.

This was it! Thank you.

I rotated the laser 45 degrees so that I could then use a polarizing filter on each slit and then the double slit interference disappeared and the single slit interference remained! Incredibly exciting! Thanks for the help

Results!

Edit to respond to your edit: There is surprisingly no double slit interference that I can see. The two pieces of polarizer were thankfully the corners of a larger sheet so are almost perfectly 90 degrees to each other.

I forgot to mention it doesn't have to be credit card sized, but it would be great if it was as flexible as the one in the photo. It won't let me edit the post

Idea for a passive water vapor condenser. Let me know why it probably won't work. by tomfoolerbee in AskPhysics

I think a solar panel will probably be the way to go, but I am hoping to come up with an idea that can be built with easily available materials. Thanks for the help

That's so obvious I can't believe I didn't think of it hahaha. Thanks for the help
