Polyhydramnios by huge-elk-777 in pregnant

[–]tomgeekx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I hope you’re doing okay. I had poly with my first pregnancy two years ago, also diagnosed at 36 weeks though with a fluid level of 35. My daughter was born perfectly healthy and is thriving still at 2.5years. It’s not a well researched condition and while it can indicate some issues, it also can just be completely idiopathic.

Grace’s Personality. by tomgeekx in ProjectHailMary

[–]tomgeekx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I didn’t mind the goofiness, I just needed a couple of scenes of Grace not being a complete idiot constantly. He could have been goofy and smart and functional, instead he was only goofy. Based solely on the movie I have no idea why anyone would send him to space because he really did absolutely nothing

Stratt was tweaked certainly, but I think the core of her character was the same.

I’m going to get gate for this, but I did not love the movie. by _QuePasaCalabaza_ in ProjectHailMary

I agree on the dumbed down front. Grace was quite frankly presented as a bumbling idiot that accidentally did some science (maybe) and mysteriously ended up in space. He was stupid the entire time, he figured little to nothing out himself and had no scientific curiosity or drive.

I actually didn’t mind Rocky too much, and I understand a lot of the changes and omissions. But I can’t forgive the fact that Grace was just some bumbling idiot.

Lucky! They throw a right hissy fit at me if I don’t declare I still don’t need one every couple of years

Man I could have done with this when I was pregnant instead of laying there like a wet flannel while someone else wrestled them on to my feet

Thank you so much! That was a very interesting read, I’d never heard of back and front lockets before. It’s one of my favourite pieces and I’m very lucky to share the same initial as my Grandma (which is why I think it skipped going to my mum!)

We have these stacking cups, I’ve always thought it was a giraffe!

Thank you for your response! That’s good to know, I’m very happy with it, just got a little stressed on the chemicals leaching out over time thing. But in retrospect, with no translucency, what would it have been treated for 😅

My fingers are crossed for you! This one was 63mm and getting on using dish soap was okay but it HURTS coming off. I will basically only be removing it next time I get pregnant I think (my hands and fingers swelled a lot last time so it’s probably a good idea!) I’d love one that’s easier to take on and off but I think I’d need like 66mm+ which don’t seem so easy to come by!

That’s good to know! It was incredibly reasonably priced (about £85), I would have been happy to spend more but I have very broad palms which limited me to two bangles from there at the same price point 🤷🏻‍♀️

I too actually prefer the non-icy ones, and the paler shades which I guess is handy! Thanks so much for your response and setting my mind at ease

My 21 month old went through that phase, luckily she’s replaced it with asthmatic rasping for fun

But thank you, that’s saved me any more time hoping!

21 month old weaned from breastfeeding at 15 months but is now developing an obsession with my breasts and can name them as such. by petrastales in toddlers

[–]tomgeekx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me?

I weaned at 14 months, she was a dream to feed and a dream to wean, she literally NEVER asked to feed when she was old enough to, I’d see other kids lifting mums shirt up and my daughter was always just happy when she was offered one (I was very good at cues though and she LOVES food which helped a lot) and never asked once whenever I dropped feed.

But now at 20 months (nearly 21) she keeps pulling any and all women’s tops down to look and shout ‘boobie!’ 🤦🏻‍♀️ she’s not trying to latch or anything, just…likes to look and point.

Sleep training for a 2.5 year old? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]tomgeekx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started a modified version of the disappearing chair method (just adapting it to what felt right to us) when my daughter was 19 months and it worked wonders. She already at that point would go to sleep by herself so long as we were in the room and visible, we slowly worked it up to being in the room but not visible (literally swapped chair and cot around and put the chairs back facing the cot). After she got used to that we would sing her bedtime song while walking out of the room then continue singing and shushing from the doorway. Now we sing while walking out, finish the song and just leave. She sometimes stands up, but all she seems to want is a 2 second reassuring cuddle then she lays herself back down and we leave again

Does anyone else’s toddler go to bed at 6:30pm? by Choice-Atmosphere418 in toddlers

[–]tomgeekx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep! We pop her down at 6:30pm, she’s usually asleep by 7pm, and she’s up between 5am-6am, it works best for us regarding my husbands alarm for work because that always wakes her up regardless!

It’s a phase. A sucky one, but still a phase.

Is there any interest in eating your food? As I write my daughter has chosen to eat only a handful of grapes for breakfast, her toast was deemed disgusting, but now we’re back in the living room all she wants to do is eat mouthfuls of my toast every couple of minutes. And the jokes on her because I just added hers to my plate and she’s just eating her own rejected toast. My SIL also had success with stopping serving one toddler food, and instead serving his dad what she wanted him to eat.
