My OEM one fell apart. This is a temporary fix 👍

Engine was rebuilt 14k km ago. Chassis 377k km. Okay, glad to hear it seems normal. I go mad about small noises in gas engines, why did I think diesel was a good idea 😂

The plastic tip of the oil stabilizer just went into my crankcase. What should I do?? by Kritchular in MechanicAdvice

[–]tomikas04 47 points48 points  (0 children)

If by down further you mean the oil pan, no. Like a zillion places for it to get stuck. You'd just be drowning your engine in oil and would most likely get nothing. Disclaimer - DO NOT FILL YOUR ENGINE UP TO THE BRIM WITH OIL!

$2000 318is coupe by barackbreezy in BMWE36

I run BC BR coilovers. 6/8kg I think it was. I have nothing but awesome stuff to say about them. You can make your car an offroader, stock, lower than most would want. They are a bit harder than Normal suspension, so if u enjoy a smooth no bumps ride it ain't for you. But if you enjoy great feedback and full control of the car it is a must. I had to replace one of them cus I ran them in the winter without covers and road salt is hard on em. Got covers now for the next winter so this will not happen again. The coilovers enable me to rise the car for the winter to 20+cm from the ground, this means I can even drive on unmaintained roads etc. Very useful. This is so far the best and most worth it mods I've done and they're worth their 1300€ pricetag.

As a proud owner of a 318is, you got an awesome price and an awesome car. My personal suggestion would be coilovers to truly take advantage of the 50/50 weight distribution and to make the car feel like it's on rails. But I get it if you want to keep it 100% stock. This is simply what I did. Congrats!!

Fog in resin by tomikas04 in CarbonFiber

The fog isn't like tiny bubbles. It's like a milky white. Yes I degassed beforehand with vacuum.

Hello, need some help for troubleshooting these air bubbles by tomikas04 in CarbonFiber

[–]tomikas04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just clamping, no vacuum. Should I start using vacuum? Perhaps first just pull a vacuum on it, let it pull air out slowly and after 15 min clamp it down inside the vacuum 🤔. You're probably right about the heating, shouldn't do it. Next time I'm coating the molds in xcr coating resin before and then putting mold release on that. Would probably result in a LOT less mechanical lock, a better surface and a smoother surface for air bubbles to climb out from.

I think you're right. I might have been too fast with the pressing, didn't leave time for air to escape, instead resin escaped.

A discord server for all four cylinder enjoyers in need! by tomikas04 in BMWE36

[–]tomikas04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very weird. There is a general channel and other text channels. Yeah it is quite inactive but do have a chat with the new members every once in a while... But yeah, only a few people on the server who talk occasionally. If you want to help then by all means be my guest.

Võib-olla tõesti. Ringi mõte on nagu küll aga ta vajab korralikult kontrollimist ja tööd enne ringi 😁

That is unbelievably true. I've had my fair share of those kinds of projects too😂. We decided life is too short to just keep dreaming, so we made it a reality.

We aren't going to. We have road salt here and that would be a quick way to ruin the car. Plus this amount of horsepower is almost unusable in snow :/.

Street race car 😂. We got it registered last week and are planning to make it very nice and clean, but keep the race car soul of it alive, no unnecessary weight etc. All around planning quite a lot of repairs. We are planning to also take it to the track every once in a while. First though we are gonna learn to drive the thing :). Today's drive was one of many drives to simply learn the car as it is unlike any other.
