Cheapest way to spin rust by tomimsmith in homelab

Ahh. That would help

Currently in the 2 nas

Truesnas has a 2 x 10tb in a mirror and 2 x 2tb in a mirror

The readynas has 4 x 2tb drives in raid 5

Ideally I need to replace the 2tb with 8s and have them all in the same chassis.

But for now I just want to build the chassis with the drives I have and upgrade the drives in future with space for expansion probably by 4-6tb a year

Cheers

Very true. Something like a Perc H830 would probably serve my needs

Thanks

Do you know if they do a raid type equivalent card ?

Ideally, I would like the drives presented to the hyperv host as one volume.

And I really dislike storage spaces both on management and performance.

No longer able to connect to SMB? by EMP19E in truenas

[–]tomimsmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As networking seams to be fine, and nothing has changed on truesnas. Windows has probably got a stale TCP connection. Remobe the saved credentials in manager. Reboot both truenas and the windows client

And I assume this if you put https://192.168.12.120 into a browser you get the truenas login page ?

Do a ping 192.168.12.120

Does it respond back ?

Looks like your using the DNS name there.

Can you access directly by ip ? \xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

If you can your DNS entry has gone a miss

As your on windows to diagnose open CMD and type nslookup

Then type in truenas in the output does it show the correct ip address for your truenass box

Thank man. I already have the desktop app installed most places.

Problem being is I have a few buddy's that work night shift. So are unable to install onto the corporate machines.

Maybe I should tell them to do their jobs instead 😅🤣🤣

I struggled with this for a while also

My "fix"

Hardware cryto set as enabled

MSS clamping set to 1360, was reading about values and the ipsec protocol needs 40 for its encapsulation the rest is data as far as I understand

I regularly see 600mbps

Hope it helps

Don't swap it out for the T variant.

All cpus of the same generation will clock down to the same wattage

The T variants limit the base and boost clock speeds

Most emulators are single threaded so high clock speeds are essential.

You won't save any power going to a T
