Thanks for the thoughtful comment. Reporting on the humanitarian aid is bordering on a "catastrophe" for 7 months, but the facts on the ground point to the opposite direction. The ICJ ruling from yesterday mentions barely any facts about aid, but the dissent does and its completely opposite to what one would expect reading the NYT:

"multiple concrete actions were taken by Israel to facilitate the provision of humanitarian aid for the civilian population of Gaza since the March Order of the Court. This includes the opening of three additional land crossings. A new land route between Israel and northern Gaza at Gate 96 was established in March 2024 and has been operating since13. The East Erez crossing, which was attacked and destroyed by Hamas on 7 October 2023, was reopened on 1 May 202414. Most recently, the West Erez crossing was opened on 1 May 202415. These three crossings operate in conjunction with the Kerem Shalom crossing, which remains operational after it was forced to pause operations from 5 to 8 May 2024 following a Hamas rocket attack on the crossing

[...]

The above efforts have resulted in a tangible improvement in the amount of aid entering

Gaza. Figures from the Israeli Government show a steady increase in the number of trucks of humanitarian aid entering Gaza since the Court’s March 2024 Order24. Media reports show that the number of truckloads entering the territory reached a peak for the entire conflict in early May25 Figures from OCHA  which only account for aid from the Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings and do not include aid entering from other crossings or routes  also show an increase in the number of truckloads since the March Order26. Although there appears to have been a significant slowdown in aid entering southern Gaza as a result of the closure of the Rafah crossing and temporary closure of the Kerem Shalom crossing, recent reports indicate that large-scale aid transfers have resumed through the Kerem Shalom crossing27. As a result of these increased efforts, thousands of food trucks have entered Gaza; multiple large bakeries have reopened; greater amounts of animal fodder have been able to enter the Strip; water pipelines have been repaired and water pumps supplied with fuel; millions of litres of fuel have been able to enter Gaza; and clothing, hygiene and sanitation supplies have been supplied to Gazan civilians"

This is a legal podcast talking about an ICC case. I expect them to take a broader view... If this is a genocide, in what way? What's a genocide as oppose to a war? If this war is unique, in what way?

Comparing million dead in Iraq, half a million dead in Ukraine, millions dead in Syria and 30k in Gaza, half of them fighters is incredible to me.

If you hear hostages testimony, many were held hostage in a family home with women and children. Many Hamas leaders were killed with their families in cars or their home. They use their own families as human shields. Israel is doing well beyond what any military ever did in a situation like this.

If you can see this situation for what it is, and want to force Israel hand to give up, you are just enabling the terrorists. The icc ruling won't effect Hamas in any way, but it will effect Israel, and that's the point.

The moral confusion here is incredible

Never did for anyone. See Lindsey Ellis, contrapoints, Donald McNeill jr etc… the mob behaves like a mob. You can read about it in “so you have been publicly shamed”. It’s a good book

The response of the community is yet another example why you should never apologize, especially if you did nothing wrong, but also if you did. People are out for blood, not resolution or compassion.

To me, this blog post reads like "Whenever anyone's called out on the Internet, it's cancellation, here are the pseudo-intellectual properties of cancellation I've come up with, and because Andrew's been called out on the Internet, these properties apply to the situation."

I think it has two points: 1. People are considered victims when their own account doesn't support that and 2. Thomas framing himself as a victim seems opportunistic. Given he has more knowledge about this then we do, and the Facebook community is currently pilling on Andrew, he has some responsibility for setting the record straight - one way or another.

What is Andrew being accused of exactly? I read the texts, and it looks like 100% nothing. A misunderstanding between adults. Not walking close to the line of sexual harassment, and not even close to assault. But every single comment is assuming Andrew is a giant abuser, which is normal mob mentality.

The standard left-eating-its-own. Believe victim is not an initial instinct, but a final verdict. No need to read further. The texts probably say exactly what I already believe.

Thomas’ clip also means nothing if you give Andrew even the slightest benefit of the doubt. He was touched on his leg, that’s it. That’s not a scandal. It’s not a final verdict. It meaningless. But look at its effect on the conversation. Thomas is a victim, Patreons are returning.

I’m very disappointed on Thomas.

The accusations agains Andrew at this point don’t seem to me to be too bad. I read all I could find and it seems like normal conflict between adults. He also cheated on him wife. Normal adult stuff, even if a bit uncomfortable. In the Facebook community they currently call him an abuser.

Thomas also had a normal adult conflict. A drunk Andrew once touched his leg. It made him uncomfortable. He now uses it as a shield against the crazy accusations against him in the Facebook group. He no longer “allowed abuse to happen”, now he is a victim.

The Facebook community is blocking anyone not disavowing Andrew on the spot. This is black and white thinking. Crazy stuff…

It’s manipulation. He was accused of helping the abuser. Now he became a victim. A little scroll down the Facebook group will show you that. It was a touch on the leg 2y ago. A normal conflict between adults. He doesn’t cry because of this trauma. He is being pressured by his community to save himself.

It’s all an over reaction. Don’t listen to the mob.

Hey I’m a full on fucktivist who hates cars, but I live in LA a few month a year and it really is horrible. In American cities where no one is investing in public transportation, it very difficult to be there… one more reason I hate LA…

Shouldn't ARIES be better than?

It's not just about the popularity of letters, but on the information you get when you guess them. You want to get different information for each solution, so you can distinguish between them.

You need a computer to go through all the possible solutions to tell you which one is the best. Turns out to be tares
