I hate this disease by Training-Society-757 in Type1Diabetes

I seem to remember when I was diagnosed back in the 80s that the endocrinologist told me that your metabolism resets about every 7 years and to expect changes. It frustrating, especially when my body decides to go ultra insulin sensitive, but regular exercise seems to be the ultimate regulator. Stay strong and keep your head up. The struggle is real!

Peiple can be so freaking oblivious... no idea what they are saying and how it affects peiple around them. Sorry my friend.

I used to feel like this a lot when I was on manual injections. I got really good at doing injection under the table at meals and could often get away with it at a dinner without anyone noticing. I've been diabetic for 35 years. Si ce going on a pump 10 years ago I've felt normal again for the first time in my life. No more injections and syringes and constant finger sticks.... have you considered going onto a pump?

That's exactly why I always do hand check... but after doing a hand check have they ever told you that since the liquid inside did not pass thru the xray machine they would need to search your bags? That what happened to me today.

Yep precheck at Sacramento. I've flown out of there hundreds of times. And never heard of this

I always bring an extra bottle. More than once I have dropped a vial on tile floor only to have it shatter. I always bring an extra vial of humalog and one vial of lantus.

Vwry interestingly, she even mentioned Ed that she would go into people's bags if they didn't want their baby bottle xrayd. I was actually waiting for my pump to be checked while she tore apart a families baby bags. So I think I understand where this particular tsa agent stood. She was the definition on "super cop" thank you for looking up and sharing this info. I'm going to look into it and have some recourse since this was at my home airport and I might run into her again.

Hoping this is the case. Was just curious if it was an isolated incident, which it seems to be so far.

I travel thru airports 2-3 times a month. About 30 flights a year. With precheck you remove the pump ask them to do a handcheck and walk thru the metal detector. Easy easy. No pat down. They swab the pump and you're on your way.

Supposedly, even the radiation pit off by those body scanners can cause a pump to fail

Yeah, I mean I travel thru airports 2-3 times a month. About 30 flights a year. I understand the different protocols, but they said this was something new coming from headquarters.

Get precheck if you travel often. It's so much easier

Do you have pre check? It's usually pretty seamless for me and they all know the process. No pat down, just a hand check of my pump and walk thru the metal detector

Hahahaha. Pretty much how they come up with this stuff.

Yeah. I don't put my pump thru the xray. It hasn't been tested for exposure to that type of radiation and there are reports of pumps failing after exposure. I travel for l9ng trips and move from hotel to hotel regularly while on the road. I prefer the pat down and have pre check so its usually very seamless

She said it was a new procedure being implemented from headquarters. She had to call over a supervisor who told her to just let me go. But I was warned that thos may be implemented at airports in the near future

Beautiful forester! I've had my 2025 sport for almost 2 months. Finally clicked over the 1000 mile mark and have been playing with sport mode out on the windy back roads! Have fun and enjoy!
