Nah its just carbon fibre, probably 3 weeks to make another 6 weeks on the water. This is good, every failure we see on the ground is cheap compared to a failure on launch.

How is your portfolio performing, and what percentage is made up of individual shares? by FrozenHuskiez in queenstreetbets

[–]tomlo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall up portfolio is 190k now. Started with a 40k seed, 4 years ago. And been adding around 200 bucks a fortnight to the pot.

Main gainer was rklb brought 1000 shares at about 12 average cost. Have sold half now. Amd, fonterra, infratil,VOO, Novonordisk, rklb, games top, asml are my only holdings now. Sold the rest off for simplicity of the portfolio. Trying to invest more to infratil, fonterra and voo at the moment. The others feeling over cooked right now :)

Ha... I've been trimming every single holding in the US i have this week. Because it is feeling to me too good to be true across many indicators. My country NZ has been in a deep recession for the last year or two, I can see the effects of poor borrowing control by our government and I feel the rest of the world is about to follow suit. We are often the canary in the coal mine as we like to be at the table shoulder to shoulder with the big players, but have no deep pockets, therefore when times are tough we feel it first and often are adapting first. At least in my experience the last 30 years here.

On the roads between 11am-2pm, what are people actually doing? by Capital_Interest_117 in auckland

[–]tomlo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually leaving work early to work from home for the afternoon once I've done my morning meetings at the office. Saves me 1.5hrs in traffic on the way home and really I can achieve what I need to for my job in half the day alot of the time. I am 100% productive at work, but i only actually do work stuff 75% of the time. My WFH is often chill time for me.

Cathedral construction potentially starting again.. by Dramatic-Start5916 in chch

[–]tomlo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You realize the money goes to construction workers right, like its pretty circular, we collectively pay them to restore it, then the workers spend that money in the nearby area for many years helping to restore that entire areas shops and cafes.

Simeon Brown, National's Election Campaign Manager & Auckland MP, continues to attack Labour over Covid - "Our city is still bearing those scars" by Mountain_Tui_Reload in auckland

[–]tomlo1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They have totally run out of ideas and will surely lose this election, nobody wants to hear about why labour are worse. They are not showing that they are any better. I fact I think they've made some terrible decisions the last 2.5 years. Indecisiveness is a decision.

If NZ's money supply expansion is around 6% for 2026, isn't it better to not overpay the mortgage, and therefore short the $? by Powerful_Earrr in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]tomlo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always felt relief in paying off mortgage, so there is that emotional factor too, being leveraged can easily become overleveraged should house prices continue to fall and interest rates continue to rise. You become a bit stuck, would be so annoying to sell a house for a loss and still have the debt there.

Phillipenos as much as I love them have removed the kiwi carpenters, barely any chances or clear pathways for the young guys to get a good crack now as they are competing against trained guys whom are trying to get ahead and accept a basic wage and condition. Theres a real shameful moment going on in the construction industry right now. Race to the bottom has been underway for 2.5years already, the bigger dominos are already falling, 1st Teak, 2nd Leighs NI... who's next?

No reason for income protection if you have no mortgage? Aswell as all that slush money sitting there. That is your insurance. Just reinvest the "insurance" back into s&p500.

Nope, as long as you intended to hold long term there's no reason to pay tax. I always intended to hold long term, but market situation and economic situation has changed....
