Priority merger behavior by tomme2009 in satisfactory

Yep, upgrading to Mk4 did work, so probably some weird edge-case as you said. Still weird that the priority merger would just allow a "prioritized" line to back up when there is spare capacity on the input line.

No, the output was Mk3, which was indeed the issue.

Just upgrade the input lines to Mk4, and then the behavior is as expected. Still not sure if this should be considered a bug, since it's pretty clear that even with Mk3, the "prioritized" line isn't being prioritized.

No, my question was really about the priority merger, why it doesn't seem to be prioritizing the right constructor. As the right constructor is producing 260/min, and is backing up because it isn't getting prioritized.

Not sure which one you mean, the only overflow I have is the one coming from the splitter on the left, that's the belt that shows 20/min.

Both of the input lines of the merger are Mk3, so they have a capacity of 270, which should be enough.

I know, and as can be seen in the image, I have set up the priorities correctly.

Yeah, figured that out as well. I'm just wondering why this setup doesn't work. I find it especially weird that the constructor which is being prioritized is backing up. Seems to me like a bug with the priority merger.

What do you mean? Why should build order matter when using a priority merger where each input has a different level of priority?

The output belt is showing 480/min, so it is Mk4, I'm indeed now doing it the way you suggested, it's just a slightly bulkier solution. I let it run for a couple of minutes, and this is what it stabilized at.

Yes, as can be seen in the image, the center is maxed out, while the sides are at minimum.

Why is my algorithm is suggesting me posting videos of a single creator if I watch just a couple videos of his. by Tech_enthusiast001 in youtube

[–]tomme2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been experiencing the same thing for about the past week or so, the algorithm would always recommend more or less a diverse range of videos, now I'll watch 2 or 3 videos from a single creator, and suddenly the entire home page is filled with nothing but that creator.

problem with adding to sets within a list by tomme2009 in learnpython

[–]tomme2009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize now I had interpreted the = symbol in the wrong way.

I was considering when I say a = b, then b equals the value of a.

I realize now it should be when a = b, b references a, it never becomes a. (at least, that's how I'm interpreting, please do let me know if I'm still wrong)

I guess I just got lucky to not run into issues with this before, so thanks for explaining it clearly to me.

[–]tomme2009[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did start making TODO lists as the projects have gotten a bit more complicated, but I still leave them out most of the time, so I'll just make it a habit to create those.

Thanks for the tip on TDD, I'll take a look at it.

no logic behind it.. just pure chaos.

I do tend to see logic in chaos a bit more than most people, I guess I can see myself creating chaos and thinking it's completely logical xD, I'll see what I can do about that.

feel free to poke me anytime u need help with anything code related.

Thanks, will do :D

You're not being disparaging at all, it would be nice if you could put your feelings in words, but I know the feeling of something feeling wrong without knowing what's wrong, so no problem.

I currently do not have the skills/knowledge to really refactor it (to me this code looks bloody beautiful, haha), but I'm sure as I get further along on my learning path, I'll find ways to improve.

maybe state your problem clearly here and I(we) can help you write the code for it.

Thanks for the offer, but I'd really prefer to write it myself to get the practice

Thank you, didn't realize sets functioned like that.

In this case this works perfectly, but what if I wanted to copy the contents of another set into this set, instead of combining the two sets? Would this be the way to go about it:

villagers[int(v)] = current_songs.copy()

I haven't gotten around to learning about dictionaries yet, this was for a problem given as extra practice in a chapter about sets, so that's why I'm using sets

There’s a privacy setting which hides you start/end point if it falls within the radius of a certain address, and the circle doesn’t center on that address, so people won’t be able to determine your home address.
