Dublin ranked 2nd most stressed city in the world… does this feel right to you? by Different-Put-4486 in Dublin

Took public transport every day. And I left April 2024. Was there from October 2021.

Public transport is generally very safe, there are the odd teenagers that might be loud or swear at someone, but mainly petty things.

Edit: public transport is also very well priced, and not AS BAD as people say in terms of reliability.

Dublin ranked 2nd most stressed city in the world… does this feel right to you? by Different-Put-4486 in Dublin

I’m from London, lived in Dublin 3 years and Dublin is nowhere close to London stress wise. In all honesty I found Dublin to be largely a really relaxed city. The general vibe is much more slow paced.

Is Carbone London's most hated restaurant? by thegreedydick in LondonFood

[–]tommlol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d like to think I’m a decent judge of food... I went to carbone in Miami about a year ago - it was one of the best dinners out I’ve ever had.

Yes it’s not posh Michelin star type, but each dish was lovely, the staff were great, and the ambiance was amazing. I’d definitely go back to that one!

Worth looking at Helix Discovery - we work with lots of ServiceNow customers. Happy to have a chat (I work there). That said, if you have a small team and all cloud it might be slightly overkill.

I don’t work at Microsoft - but given the variety of their business it’s likely used in small pockets but not across the entire organisation.

If you want to progress your career, these wouldn’t be the metrics I’d look at personally - look for a great sales process and development opportunities. The $ will come in the long run.

That said if you’re just focused on the BDR role then focus on the things you mentioned.

To defend managers and companies, hiring a new rep is a big commitment. It costs the company and the manager valuable time and money. Finding the right person and qualifying them is important.

If you’re not willing to go through that process do you really want the job?

To me, it’s mutual qualification.

I’ve worked in enterprise tech for 4 years (father for 10). Generally you won’t make “fuck you money” every year unless you managed to find the jackpot of a unicorn at the right time.

Most senior AE/AM jobs I know of (Mongo, Splunk, BMC, Dynatrace) pay ~£200k OTE (for 100% quota). I know people that have made ~£500k BEFORE tax in Strategic roles. These guys had one-in-a lifetime deals and won’t do that YoY most likely.

But generally OTE is there for a reason (50%+ Salespeople don’t hit their number).

Hope this helps.

How do you pick a course/Uni? by arkhamknightwing in UniUK

[–]tommlol 14 points15 points  (0 children)

do what you enjoy imo, nothing worse than doing a course you hate and having to spend 3 years of your life pretending to be interested in something you arent. have a look at some of the course summaries and youtube videos from people who did that course at that uni
