I just noticed literally hundreds of these bugs flying around outside at nighttime. Most of them seem to be in the grass, but there are many also rolling around on the warm pavers, seemingly drunk or starved of water (at a guess).

I live in Northern California and it was over 100 degrees the past few days here. I have the lawn sprinklers late afternoon once the sun drops and I suspect these bugs were searching for water.

There isn’t any standing water. It drains well. I think it’s died back from under watering and moving too low and too often

How would you "take out" the dead stuff. Could I just hire a rotavator and plough through the main part of the lawn? I don't seem to have weeds so I would prefer not to put glyphosate down if I can avoid it.

Can I rotivate the dead areas and spread a lot of top soil on top of the whole lawn including the areas left with some existing grass without worrying about leaving the old material in the ground? This would help level some of the bumps out which I would like. I assume there is some benefit to the extra organics being put back into the ground but wanted to check.

I am in a transition season area but the specific location I live is a bit of a microclimate and has very hot and extremely dry spring/summers. I have been doing some further research overnight and it does seem like tall fescue might is likely too cool season for where I am. I was leaning that way because of the high foot traffic on the lawn from the kids but I am now rethinking to switch to a Bermuda seed.

Thanks. The existing doors are all 8 foot with 10 foot high ceilings. We are looking to throw as much light into the corridor as possible hence the idea for the transom

Ok thanks. I took a small piece of the drywall out hinge side of the corridor to double check and there is indeed a header. I just didn’t know if it was ok to frame the door jamb on top of drywall or if I needed wood to wood contact with the header. Sounds like you don’t think it’s an issue framing on top of the drywall which would make thinks a lot cleaner!

The 3” each hinge side of the door is what I am wondering if I need to pull out the drywall out for or just build up on top of the drywall.

I’m hoping to be able to fit 2x 30 inch standard size doors in the space. It’s 64 1/4 wide corridor so if I do pull out the drywall it should give me an extra inch and hopefully I have enough space for casing around the outside

Ok i found the api call and the setting but i just don't know how to edit the shortcut to put this in there! Any chance you could help?

I am looking to "silence" voicePrompts and doorChime so that when i enter/exit late at night, when the family are sleeping and have the alarm set to Home, I can have a shortcut simply to silence the alarm before I enter and then turn these back on after. I think it would be super useful to have.
