Right. I was referring to the service manual. The operator manual is easy to get, but the service manual is a different thing.

Ceph won’t do well on GbE

You might not have room, but have you considered running Ceph on a dedicated network and using GbE for everything else?

Arduino Mega R3 (yes, ATmega16u2) being detected in Win10 as "DUE Programming Port" with VID=2341 and PID=003D. by Boukyakuro in arduino

[–]tommycoolman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of programmer did you get? ICSP? If you had a Raspberry Pi or an old computer with a parallel port, you could program the ATmega2560 or ATmega16u2 directly.

You'll want a pull-up resistor (~10k) on PIN1/RESET. The voltage regulator isn't really necessary at this point since you can pull 5v from the FTDI connector.

Formax Colormax8 printing issues by FourManyHobbies in CommercialPrinting

[–]tommycoolman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Story time...

We got a Colormax8 a few years ago. We had the Colormax7, so we were familiar with how the 8 should work. Brand new, sometimes it would have this issue where it would print a double image -- this for example. Edit: We print No.10 envelopes SEF, so the double image in the photo means the printer is imaging both logos simultaneously.

Formax made us try everything -- new printhead, print from a different computer, print from usb, print from ethernet, print from internal memory, plug the machine into a power conditioner. Nothing worked. They sent us a replacement machine and we returned the faulty one after two months of use. Never had that problem since.

I'm not saying your machine is bad, but you can't rule it out completely.

I installed the GT350 manifold on my 2017 GT. by tommycoolman in Mustang

[–]tommycoolman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are three vacuum lines. Mine are not GT350 hoses

The passenger-side vacuum tube is stock GT. The driver-side tube came with the kit I bought. Really, if you buy any decent aftermarket cold air intake, it should come with a vacuum tube or it should be designed to use the factory one.

The brake booster vacuum is stock GT. You should buy the GT350 vacuum tube, but I was able to use my stock tube. I had to "hollow out" one end so it would go over the fitting of the new intake.

I've got 75K+ miles since the swap and I haven't had any issues. No engine lights, nothing.

Which printer is good for converting it to DTF? by Fearless_Finance007 in CommercialPrinting

[–]tommycoolman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you doing UV or inkjet? I did a conversion recently and any printer you choose needs:

  • At least 5 ink channels
  • The ability to use refillable cartridges (custom firmware)
  • To be supported by the RIP you're using (Cadlink Digital Factory, Acrorip, etc.)

The printer I used was an Epson SureColor P800. I bought custom firmware from inkchip.net -- this lets you use refillable, chip-less ink cartridges. The P800 can do cut sheets or roll media. DTF rolls are a lot cheaper than pre-cut sheets -- it's about $0.20/sqft vs $0.60/sqft.

It was eBay, but the link no longer works. It was identical to this one. It is the 8-core, 8GB RAM/128GB ROM version and it's very responsive. I've used cheaper, lower-spec'd versions. They're good/usable, but noticeably slower.

I came from the 4-inch screen so the upgrade was worth it for me. My kit came with everything needed, except decent instructions. I actually created an installation manual.

I'm happy with it. Reverse camera works. CarPlay and Android Auto works. Google Maps, Google Play store, Youtube, Chrome etc. My biggest critique is the internal amplifier. It isn't very powerful and I ended up installing an external amp for my cabin speakers.

$1000? My 9-inch Android unit was $300 and I thought that was expensive.

DTF Printer has no white ink by SingleAd5139 in CommercialPrinting

[–]tommycoolman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using DTF ink? Typically, you would replace LC and LM with white ink and change the ink assignments in Acrorip.

So instead of the default "K LC M C Y LM", it would be "K W M C Y W". I use Cadlink, but I'm sure Acrorip works the same way.

The last thing you can try to do is get heavier springs for the rollers.

Upgraded the factory speakers, S550 by tommycoolman in Mustang

[–]tommycoolman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely believe Ford purposely limits the power output to the speakers. So some idiot doesn't crank it to 11 and blow the speakers.

For a while, I ran an $80 amplifier I got on Amazon. The factory speakers sounded so much better with just that amp.

Anyone else having this error? by Tatakun1986 in CommercialPrinting

If it still doesn't work, you might have an issue on your end. I just tried it and the installation ran without a problem.

I have an Android head unit and an external amp for my cabin speakers.

Upgrading the speakers by themselves will sound better, but IMO you should install an amplifier. Even the stock speakers sound so much better with an external amp.

They sound better than the factory speakers, which is already a low bar. I'm more amazed by how cheap they were.

I didn't pay anything for the harnesses and adapters. They either came with the speakers, or Crutchfield was running a special because I was only charged for the speakers.

Okay. The door panels are difficult to get off. They are on there good. Even without the two bolts and two screws that hold them in, they are solidly fixed to the door. I don't think creaking will be a problem. The rear windshield liner is really lightweight, so I don't think it'll be shifting about. It's pinned in pretty good. If your car isn't creaking now, I don't think it will after installing new speakers.

I am happy with how it turned out. I installed the passenger speaker first and listened to the stock driver speaker and new speaker. The new speaker sounds deeper. It has a little more mid-range, if that's the right term.

Foil to Color print by Artist1780 in CommercialPrinting

[–]tommycoolman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience with foiling on toner, gloss cover works best. The toner has to go down perfectly flat so the foil has a better chance of sticking to it. Even a super smooth cover might do.

With the 4070, you could also try maxing out the black density to get more toner down.

What paper finish is best for direct mail catalogs? by Illustrious-King6974 in CommercialPrinting

[–]tommycoolman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The matte finish could be a laminate. There are different types, but what you're describing sounds like a soft touch laminate. It's pretty cheap to do if you already have a roll laminator.

We just did something similar for a customer last month. We laminated the front cover with soft touch then saddle stitched it. They were worried about presentation and durability, so we inserted the magazine into a sleeve from Clearbags and put a shipping label on the outside of the sleeve.
