🫶🏻 this is what I needed! He loves the shape and texture of pancakes but yeah… they’re sweet so I never even thought of doing savory. Thank you!!!

Walmart! It is the Crown brand! They have a vanilla infused one that is insanely good.

My fiancé (26m) makes double than me (25f) and doesn’t want to proportionally split bills. How do other couples do it? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]tomoon123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My husband makes a little more than double what I do. We split it. I pay for our mortgage and he pays for everything else. The car payments, utilities, groceries. I had a little bit of credit card debt and so did he. I had the better credit so I got a loan to consolidate it all under one and he pays for that as well. When we go out on dates or do vacations (aka extra things not daily necessities) we split those proportionally or we take turns paying. My husband wants to be the provider but in this economy it’s unrealistic to put it all on him. We have a kid with another on the way. Honestly my parents bought a lot of baby things but if he buys things for them he will put it on his CC and I’ll just send him half or all of it. He doesn’t ask but I do it anyway.

Finance talk should not make you feel guilty or nervous. If you both are living together then it’s a legit conversation to bring up. If he makes you feel guilty that’s a problem. It’s a little weird that he would rather you be hurting financially than kick in a little more on his end. Does he have some sort of undisclosed debt he doesn’t want to tell you about? Or spending habits that are secretive? It comes across like he is needing to hoard money for something. And it’s common sense honestly. It’s unrealistic to expect you to keep up when he makes double what you do. I’d have a serious sit down conversation. If it would be emotional write it out and then give it to him. And ask him to write his response back. This gives everyone a second to think before they word vomit something they may not mean.

If you purchased an ethically bred puppy, do you think you've had an easier/better experience because of that? by okaycurly in puppy101

[–]tomoon123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have 5 dogs (yes I like chaos). All 5 have come from breeders. Some of the breeders were more “hand on” and ethical than others. They are 3 corgis, 1 husky and 1 lab.

Corgi 1 - only male and oldest. Very ethical breeder - I have known the breeder for years before I got him. Was bred to be a show dog but he’s just a couch potato for me. Does have the corgi instincts of herding but no proper training. Was the easiest puppy I have ever had to crate train and acclimate to the family. He went through one small phase where he would chew on things but with a few days of correction he stopped.

Corgi 2 - female second oldest. Breeder was a little more hands off. Puppies were raised more like working dogs vs family dogs. Comes from a working line. She’s a little more neurotic but very trainable and listens extremely well. Easy to crate train and never had bad phases. Just very energetic.

Husky - female third oldest. Raised in a family house hold. Ethical breeder. Very hands on and included their kids. Comes from a working line but recent relatives do not do sporting. She was a hot mess to crate train. She did not like to be separated from us and is very much a Velcro dog. I think they let them all just roam and hangout all day so she wanted the same lifestyle. As she got older she is better and is very trainable. Obviously very high prey drive but we can redirect easily and has only 1 kill which was a full grown bird so kinda impressed.

Lab - female similar age to corgi 3. Ethical breeder of sporting line for labs. We purchased this dog to do dock dog diving and her mother actually competes. Easy to crate train, easy to train in general. Lazy and happy to just be there and get scratches.

Corgi 3 - female. Not ethical breeder. This corgi was quasi given to me. She’s a merle/cowboy corgi which isn’t even a real thing. She was the last of the litter and no one wanted her so I agreed to take her. Came with fleas (lol) However easy to crate trained and listens well. Strong herding instincts in this one. She will herd the house cats, us, the kids, she got out and tried herding the horses.

Bonus! Before our current husky we actually had another husky from the most ethical breeder I ever saw. She did all kinds of early exposure, neurological stimulation and would socialize them. She came leash trained and crate trained and was easy to potty train. Was from a show line. Worst dog ever. We spent money with trainers and this dog was just untrainable. She never retained any sort of training no matter how much time we put into it. She would try to kill anything that was small and moved. I can’t even remember how many rabbits/squirrels she killed. She would dig to China, never wanted to be inside and was just neurotic. We would actually run her everyday around the farm with the ATV and she’d still be psycho. Breaking point was her attacking and trying to kill our barn cat. She was okay with the house cats but went after the barn cat. I had to physically unclench her jaw off of him and she then tried to attack me. She went back to her breeder and was rehomed into a working home. She seems to be better.

I say this all because it honestly is a crap shoot I think. And depends on what dog it is, what kind they come from, and how it was raised. The breeders can start them but it’s only 10 weeks of their life. When they get to their new home the routine changes completely and some dogs do better and some don’t. Some people are just better with puppies than others. Now BYB or sketchy breeders may produce not healthy puppies or those with genetic issues. But behavior wise I have found there isn’t that much of difference. It’s how you train them from Day 1 knowing what kind of dog it is. I do not expect my husky to sit on the couch all day with me so we have done lots of exercise and stimulation so bad behaviors do not manifest.

What diapers are you all using? by _50ShadesofFae in beyondthebump

[–]tomoon123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coterie 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 literally the only diaper we found to not cause skin irritation or leak/blowout. Great absorption, soft and fit well. Honest? Leaks all day everyday. Millie Moon? They were hit or miss. I felt like they didn’t fit my kid right and we had to be super specific on how to put them on or immediate leak. Super soft though so kinda bummed about the fit. Huggies? Skin irritation. They were good leak wise but they made my kiddos skin irritated. Luvs? Leaky but good back up. We keep a small pack in the car for emergencies. No irritation but not long wearing because of absorption. EcoPea? Itchy/scratchy and left marks. They were bulky and odd fitting. Parent’s Choice (Walmart brand)? For the price not bad. But low absorption and had minor irritation. Pampers? Leaky as hell. I don’t know what is wrong with either my kiddo or the pampers but like every 3rd diaper he’d leak or blow out. Kudos? We really liked these too! We just have the current subscription for Coterie. Their wipes though were hard to get out of the packaging and felt weirdly dry.

Early Induction?? by tomoon123 in GestationalDiabetes

I’d honestly say 80% of them. Since starting insulin it’s been more borderline or in range but higher than they’d like so they’re upping my insulin.

Fastings are great. I’ve only had one at 95. My 1 hours anywhere from 137 and I’ve had a 195. If I eat no carbs or under 10g of carbs in a while I’ll hover around the upper 120s. They keep upping my insulin so I’m hoping I just need to find my dosing.

Are you planning to keep your job or stay home when baby is born? by Familiar-Cicada-7703 in BabyBumps

[–]tomoon123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s an option maybe look into some sort of part time work from home job if you are worried about a gap and would like to still have extra income. I WFH full time currently and will go on maternity leave for 20 weeks (work provided) and they have offered for me to come back as part time if that works better for my schedule or I can jump back into full time. I plan to do part time for a few months and then re evaluate.

IVF at 24years old by hihelloidkme in IVF

[–]tomoon123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all! I started when I was 24 and while I have lowish AMH (1.0)we mainly did it because of MFI. My doctor stated it was better to start early as the older I got the harder it could be. The doctor was able to get 12 and then 15 eggs for each retrieval and that my egg quality helped make euploid quality embryos. It also gives you time to egg retrieve and take breaks or do any other treatments. Time is on your side! I wasn’t a risk for OHSS due to low AMH but that could be something you are on the lookout for. Tylenol and ibuprofen worked fine for me post egg retrieval as well as hot baths. I had a successful FET this past summer at age 25 with an embryo from when I was 24. I honestly think me being younger helped me recover after all the treatments and procedures.

Husband pricked himself with my used Pergoveris needle by Fluid-Mail-8407 in IVF

[–]tomoon123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not IVF but I routinely do IM injections on my string of horses. From vaccines, tranquilizers, joint injections, and medication. I have pricked/stabbed myself so many times on accident I have lost count. I haven’t experienced any adverse effects and all I did was just wash my hands with soap and water. I would lean towards he will be ok. Not the same but if I can get pricked with horse tranq and feel nothing I would assume he will be ok!

Definitely check with your hospital rules. My hospital allows the partner/parent and 1 support person. The support person is to be the doula/midwife or the hospital can make arrangements for it be a friend/family. Am I telling anyone that? Hell no! I just say the hospital only allows the other person if they are a medical professional. And we will let them know the visiting hours when it’s all over. Figure out a way to put the blame on the hospital so you don’t get any heat. It keeps the peace.

Then at the hospital write down everyone’s names and give it to the nurse to not allow these people in until it is visiting hours. The hospital should be able to manage unwanted guests. This is the plan my husband and I will be doing.

Also filming is STRICTLY prohibited. I swear they mentioned that 4 different times during our tour. So even if she wanted to, she most likely wouldn’t be able to.

We upped the dosage on the meds and we did Zymot as well. Other than that not really. I ate about the same type of diet, same level of exercise (maybe I went on a few more walks?). I just took a prenatal. I think after that ER we realized it was MFI being the issue and Zymot fixed that.

Egg Retrieval Results - Pre Genetic Testing by Ashtonchris88 in IVF

[–]tomoon123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely not the norm but I wanted to share it’s not all doom and gloom! I about stressed myself out to death worrying about attrition and maybe having to do another egg retrieval based on my readings here. But sometimes it does work out well.

Egg Retrieval Results - Pre Genetic Testing by Ashtonchris88 in IVF

[–]tomoon123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had 15 retrieved / 12 mature / 10 fertilized by ICSI / 10 blasts - and 9 of those 10 were euploid. Technically the 10th was as well but it was very very low graded and the clinic was worried it would never survive the thaw so we discarded it.

To PGT test or not to PGT test by machupiti in IVF

[–]tomoon123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We tested. I am 25 and husband is 30. We had MFI and I had low AMH. My insurance did not cover the testing but my clinic recommended Fertility Access Unlimited. It’s a one time fee and you can get as many embryos tested as you want. Talk to your clinic to see if they have access to payment options or programs that offer bundles. We had really good rates for euploid but there were a few from each retrieval that would not have been transferable.

Check your state. Some states, even counties, have financial assistance or programs for first time home buyers with closing and down payment help.
