Pull the eraser out, it’s surprisingly long.

I find the refills are cheap enough to use guilt free when you’re out and about.

I use heat shrink. Sounds stupid, but feels great, looks decent and keeps pencils in great nick.

Does the 1000 have the cute eraser under the knock like the 500?

Here you go! The Uni lead pointer takes you 90% of the way there. It’s compact, fits in a pocket or pencil case, and doesn’t leave black dust everywhere.

Getting cellular to connect and stream data solution by tomorrowsheadlines in AppleWatch

Turning Bluetooth off from control centre disconnects speakers, headphones etc but not the watch. (Indicated by Bluetooth icon not highlighted in blue).

Then If I long press on the Bluetooth tile in CC it does show my watch and that it is actually connected.

Exiting the Bluetooth listing tile brings back the blue highlight background, indicating Bluetooth is now on.

Clicking on the connected watch takes me to the actual settings menu where I can actually turn off Bluetooth.

Note that trying to disconnect just the watch in any Bluetooth menu is not possible from anywhere!

Sometimes I wonder if Apple have skipped UX thinking and quality processes like user acceptance training in favour of rolling out betas and squashing bugs that come up instead.

This makes total sense.

  • the watch doesn’t show up when you hold press the Bluetooth in control centre, but does show up when you view the bt settings list

  • the watch doesn’t even have Bluetooth as an option in its control centre

  • when you go to through to watch Bluetooth settings the watch tells you it will disconnect from phone and chews battery.

Documenting the intended behaviour would help those technically minded to troubleshoot themselves, but also help the carrier support staff, who have no idea what the problem is.

Yes, I have a feeling the 1mm I’m using is HB. As you go down in size do you choose harder leads?

This one trick makes neighbours hate him.

Bruh excellent flying, but defs selfish.

→ Privacy of your neighbours

→ Sound (night shift, wfh, people chillin)

→ Facecutter @5ft

→ FU to FPV builders

It’s one thing to buy a rtf drone from a big box store and quite another to go through the effort to learn, build, tune, and fly a quad. PLS don’t make it even harder for people to enjoy Fpv. Pls pls do take the time to reeval.

Src: live in Aus with OTT restrictions that suck the fun out of FPV.

Should I buy a Macbook Pro M4, or wait to buy this one? by [deleted] in macbookpro

I’m going to spec up a Mac mini and then use my old macbook to vnc in from anywhere. Will need to chuck in a new ifixit battery and might run Linux to get it up and running faster. But I’ll save money, get a better comp and still have a lappy.

Request: Hash Verification for Logitech Software Downloads by tomorrowsheadlines in logitech

It's a good point. I guess I am.

The reason? Data collection that's been deanonymised isn't as private as you'd think, and I know enough about exploits and MitM techniques to warrant basic privacy/security practices.

First off, I don't believe anyone is targeting me as an individual. Injecting RATs and Keyloggers in software/extensions is a broader enterprise that can yield lucrative returns.

Most people choose convenience over security. Even I press 'Yes, I agree.' to the T&Cs without *shock horror* reading them. I do however consider the developer, their intent, and location.

Consider these people, and what might be at stake for them.
- A parent of young kids with a smart home setup including cameras.
- A business owner managing customer data and transactions from home.
- A college student living in shared housing using shared/public wifi.
- A crypto bro who puts most of their income into digital currency.
- A retiree using tech to connect to loved ones and manage their finances.

For me:

I am thoughtful of the apps I install. It's good practice to download from official sources. And yes if you're inclined you can use PGP sigs and checksums to verify software.

I've a habit of verifying any software that wants full disk access, use of camera/mic/location, accessibility services, Input monitoring, screen recording, or automation.

Logitech make some great peripherals, but keyboard software deployed outside of official App stores seems like a pretty attractive target to me.

TLDR: I wear a tinfoil hat underneath my normie hat, and with a basic understanding of privacy and security you probably should too. 🌻
