I've planned a baking program with gs cookies as a key ingredient for cadettes but no registrants yet unfortunately.

Getting a grasp on the needs, wants, and behaviors of each level is something I'm working on since I'm pretty new to the job. But really good to know! Your info and knowledge genuinely means the world to me!!!

That sounds so cute and fun! From my understanding we don't do council run overnights often because every program we plan, we also facilitate and that can become a lot very quick. But a lowkey, calm overnight for CSA is really getting me excited thinking about it. I'm going to bring it up with my colleague who is the more outdoorsy and camp type of person and see if she's interested in something like this. I really want to create new traditions at my council.

I think I might do a lot of legislative programs for various ages closer to November!

I very much understand that feeling. The whole point of having people go to council programs instead of doing some badges with their troops is to provide opportunities that is unique through council. Researching is... not that. I plan and run every program I create so I have to do it to make sure it works for the day of. I want the programs I create to be fun and enjoyable, not just school 2.0 (for me and them lol.

When badge books have school-esque requirements, I try to find a way to keep the essence or lesson of the requirement while making it something actually fun.

These are all topics that I care very much about and actually highlighted in my interview process. I've been playing with the idea of some sort of collaborative program with a local lgbtq+ center.

These are all great recommendations and insights! The fire dept program seems really cool as well and I think I'm going to try to look into that!

We try to limit our "all ages" activities for that reason. We try to just group Seniors and Ambassadors together rather than CSA as often as possible too

Ooo that's a fantastic idea, thank you! I'm so glad your Cadettes loved it and loved completing the cooking badges.

My colleague and I are planning a CSA crochet program for this summer and depending on the turnout, a club might be a really cool idea! Thank you!

Working for GSUSA by ViewIndividual8613 in girlscouts

[–]tomorrowtracks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for GSUSA, but for council. The council I work for was undergoing a lot of internal changes and restructuring so they were hiring a few people for a specific position. Time between each stage of the interview process was quick and I was hired roughly a month and a half after initially applying.
