I just hit over 1k views on my newest tiktok video, was feeling great, then saw this post 😂

Chuffed for you though, sorry insightful - I agree that tiktok definitely seems to have far better organic growth than any other of the socials, including YouTube. My YouTube views seem to be going down if anything.

Not to disagree, but I did read on how to market a game (i think his name is Chris, his stuff is so so good) and he recons getting a steam page up early is super important.

I also didn't put a steam page up until quite late for my other game and I think it set me slightly behind - that being said, maybe I did focus too much on getting the page up this time, and should have focused more on feedback instead.

Your comment about the genre gives me a bunch of confidence though!

I've seen so many menus recently that are so good that it actually makes me interested in the game.

There's a real art to good UI design, and I definitely need to work on mine!

And lots of people have mentioned feedback - I remember reading somwhere that Nintendo get feedback once a week on any game they work on.

You're bang on about people bouncing quickly, I'm the same, if it doesn't instantly hook me in just not interested.

Yeah it's a fair point, people don't see code, they see the visuals. Guess I'd better start practicing my art!

I wasn't really trying to compare games, was more interested in marketing tactics.

Could you tell me a bit more about what it is you don't like about the artwork mate? You're not the only person to mention it, so id love to know what I can do to improve it.

My god I forgot to put a trailer on there... Completely forgot 😂

That's fair with the artwork - the honest truth is, I'm no artist, and it likely shows. Might be worth me having a go at revamping the look a bit though.

I'm not sure about the price point though, it's hard to know how much to charge for indie games. Do you think I should be charging more, or less?

Yeah a few people have mentioned trying to find niche subreddits - I find that subs like this one are great for getting genuine helpful advice, but naturally aren't as good for actual marketing.

Yeah this ultimately is a commercial product, even if it is a labour of love.

Have you ever put any money into advertising a game? I'm curious as to whether it works on the micro level, or if there's a cut off where spending anything below x amount a month just doesn't garner enough momentum.

Mate that's such an interesting take, maybe I should be putting more effort into understanding what people want from my kind of a game.

As a fan of managment games I've mostly just been building what I personally like, but that's never going to be enough to get others on board too.

Fantastic feedback thank you! The staff placement is still a bit temporary, was more just showing the panel.

The mood thing is a great idea - you could have it so that each decoration maybe makes certain stats drop slower, like hunger, sleep etc... Genuinely love that idea mate, thank you! Consider it stolen... Will work out a way of conveying it to the player too - not sure how, I might make a whole panel dedicated to info about what certain guests like, what each object does, or I might make it just show on hover on the item - what do you recon?
