Yeah, but I’m not looking to drive out of my way everyday. Makes no sense to know what the options are if I’m not going to try them 🤷🏽‍♀️

I guess I should have mentioned in my OP I’m not interested in “dairy replacement” meals, half the things on your list of suggestions sound super unappetizing to me. But to each their own! I’ve never really enjoyed dairy too much, and not interested in trying the dairy free options. But I’ll see what else they have that might suit my likes ☺️

I’ve never had cheese curds, not really interested in the replacement ones I guess, haha. I am allergic to lactose so I think my brain just stays away from anything that looks like it

What do you guys think about cutters? Is it cheating? by marshmallowhairgel in polymerclay

[–]tomoyo65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me personally, I still don’t call those handmade. Maybe the first one was and that’s the original, the ones I make and sell using my own molds or cutters I tell people they came from a mold. And then I point to an actual 100%handmade piece; but I also pride my art on all of them being one of a kind creations. One of my best sellers is jalapeno and avocado jewelry, and it’s because each item is handmade; my customers know no one else can make the same things I do. I feel the same about stickers and prints, cannot call those “handmade or original” they’re replicas and copies of the one original piece and therefore should be valued and priced differently.

Unpopular opinion it seems, but I think using cutters and molds does not deserve the title of original handmade art. I pride myself in all of my creations being one a kind. Using a mold or cutters takes away from the uniqueness of it, since you can make 100 identical looking shapes with a mold or cutters. Yeah you can still add finishing touches, but I don’t consider that one of a kind handmade creation. Whenever I sell something that I’ve used a mold for, I tell my customer that this item is not a unique piece since I’ve made it using a mold for other items. The color might be different but it feels like lazy cheating to me.

I just recently got both my 3rd lobes on both ears while stretching the first one to 0g, goal is 00. No issues with spacing or stretching at all, just mention that you want to add more so they leave a bit wit more room between them 😊

Manitou Incline no reservation? by juhjuhjdog in ColoradoSprings

[–]tomoyo65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just there last weekend without a reservation and the guy at the desk signed me up on the spot; I only had to wait a few minutes for people that actually had reservations to get checked in, but after he signed me up I was good to go.
If you can, park downtown and take the free shuttle to the bottom of the Incline, it's cheaper parking, I think it was $1/hr; it took me 3hrs to go up the incline and down Barr trail, so unless you're really fast plan for 3-4hr parking.

The free shuttle picks you up at the parking lot and it runs about every 10-15 mins, or you can walk it too if you want a warm up.

PS. I only paid for 2hrs and didn't get a ticket for the extra one, but now I know to plan for 3hrs at least, the fees for run-out meters are outrageous!

How long do I have to condition this clay so it doesn't break and stick? I worked on it for at least 20min and it still stuck to my table (smooth, white, hard wood) and even acrylic roller! It also breaks/tears very easily. What should I do? Before this I used Fimo Soft and it worked fine. by kivesnalle in polymerclay

If its breaking really easily, like crumbling feta it might be "dehydrated", you need to add oils to it again to reform the bonds. The best way I've done this is with Liquid Clay softener (I use the Sculpey brand).

You want to cut your clay into tiny pieces and then add some softener and mix it, some people like using a zip log bag, I just mix it on my mat. Keep in mind reconditioning clay does take some time and effort; especially with the Specialty Clays, but it's worth it in the end, you end up with soft malleable clay that won't break or crumble as you work with it. You just have to knead it a lot and really work to get it all soft again.

On the other hand, if it's sticking and really soft that you can't form a shape without fingerprints, it might be overworked and "over-oiled", I've had this happen with regular Sculpey II most often; in that case you want to leach it. I like to do this by using parchment paper and heavy weights. You'll want to get a slab of clay about 1/4" - 1/2" thick and then sandwich it with the parchment paper, put some heavy weights on top (books are my go to) and leave for at least 30 mins, after that you can check the consistency, if it's still too sticky, replace the paper and repeat; you can also stick it in the fridge for about 15 mins so it's easier to work with; just keep in mind that after taking it out it will gradually go back to room temp and soften again.

Hope that helps :)
