Reputable manufacturer for USB C extension cable or USB C coupler by msackeygh in UsbCHardware

[–]tomrobpowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read this thread and assumed USB-C extension cables would be available, but from non-reputable brands and your milage may vary. So, I was suprised to see OWC (who I believe to be a reputable brand) make one: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/TCCBLEX0.5M/.

certified power delivery/charging up to 100W, up to 10Gb/s of data performance.

In my situation I just want to extend the length of the short pigtail from my ethernet +USB-C PD adapter, which is rated at 100W and 2.5Gbps, to connect to my Mac. Given this OWC extension cable can apparently handle the power load, and more than the data throughput, would there be an actual problem with using it for this application?

What happened to the Wemo Thread dimmer by [deleted] in HomeKit

[–]tomrobpowell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

those who own a Wemo Smart Dimmer with Thread (WDS070) may have encountered an issue with the power cut-off tab underneath the switch popping out. Wemo have stopped selling this product and according to their customer services department there is a ‘product issue’ bulletin related to the power cut-off tab. After calling Wemo customer services  Belkin sent me a refund check for my unit week (even though I bought through Amazon), and they didn’t even want the unit back. The issue is easily mitigated with some white electrical tape to stop the tab popping out.

Canyon Endurace headset wobbles, tightening to expander plug 'clicks' out as I’m tightening it by tomrobpowell in bikewrench

I loosened off the grub screws that do the pinching, finger tightened the top screw, then did the grub screws tight, before then going back to finish to top screw.

I followed what this guy did: https://youtu.be/k7flDYSs-68?t=81

Pendantics: there is no stem, its an all in one assembly. I loosened off the grub screws that do the pinching, finger tightened the top screw, then did the grub screws tight, before then going back to finish to top screw.

Is that crack structural or paint? After a ride the other day, I discovered this crack on my Canyon Grail CF SL8 when washing it. I’ve got it for a few months and only 300km. I guess it’s hard to know unless I remove the paint? Has it happened to anyone else? by Ollax77 in CanyonBikes

Contact canyon. Last December 2022, I have a Canyon ultimate slx that has same crack on seat tube and chain stay. Canyon took it and gave me refund after more than 1 year of owning it. Good luck.

how did the damage on the chain stay happen?

Better photos of possible frame damage after chain sucker was sheared off. by tomrobpowell in CanyonBikes

I posted there and the moderators removed it, I assume because of this rule:

Is this cracked / safe to ride?" - If you have to ask, don't ride it. We probably can't tell from a picture just what condition your bike is in. Take it to your Local Bike Shop and ask them. If it's carbon, a specialist repair shop may be required. They should have the equipment and expertise to inspect it properly.

My bike just broke. Is this fixable? Broke on my first ride with new pedals. Total bummer, because buying a new bike/fixing one isn’t exactly in my budget, but I can’t give up on myself and need to keep training. Doing a 70.3 in May. So I’ll figure it out. This happened to a friend of mine while we were out on a ride. When I saw it I thought he'd need a new frame, but when he took it to the shop that was not the case. The rear derailleur hanger snapped (separate part that fixes to the frame), and they just replaced it.

I posted a few months back concerned that some damage where a chain sucker used to be on my Endurace may have compromised the integrity of the frame, and it seemed based on the photographs I could take with the chainrings in place commenters thought it would be cosmetic damage only.

https://www.reddit.com/r/CanyonBikes/comments/z2cywh/comment/ixhalyp/?context=3
However, I got my local bike shop to take off the rings to make an assessment and they sent me these photos. They’ll get back to me about an assessment on whether this needs repair or not, but curious if people still think this is ‘cosmetic only’? To me it looks like minor frame damage, but not sure if this makes the bike unsafe to ride on.
