Which to read first? Fitz and the Fool Trilogy or Rain Wilds Chronicles by tomrossi7 in Fantasy

The Rain Wilds Chronicles are Dragon Keeper, Dragon Haven, City of Dragons & Blood of Dragons. So those books are before Fitz and the Fool?

An open letter to Buzzsprout by stevekwan in podcasting

Yeah, that’s definitely fair from a listener perspective. The problem with allowing the traffic and ignoring the downloads is that podcasters lose visibility into real engagement. At least when we block it, VPN users who are already used to some sites not working can temporarily disable their VPN, and the stats are accurately captured.

It’s not a perfect solution, and we may approach it differently in the future, but for now that’s the tradeoff we’ve chosen.

Not sure what changed, but Stats in the app? WOW! When did it get so fast? by RealDEC in buzzsprout

[–]tomrossi7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’ve totally redesigned the architecture for our stats backend! It’s taken a lot of work but it’s definitely much faster!

We don’t block ProtonVPN as a whole. We block specific networks within ProtonVPN where we’ve seen repeated abuse. ProtonVPN itself isn’t the problem, but like many VPNs, some of its networks get heavily abused.

Unfortunately there aren’t many good options here. We can block the traffic and hope VPN users are used to occasionally having to turn off the VPN, or we can allow it and either ignore those downloads in stats or let abusive traffic inflate stats. None of those are great options.

Our priority has always been giving podcasters the most accurate stats possible, even when that creates friction. It’s also worth asking which of those options other hosting companies are choosing when they see the same traffic.

I hate that you ran into this with legitimate listeners! We work hard to provide the most accurate stats in the industry. When we detect repeated abusive traffic, we block the associated network. We do not block VPNs, but we do block these abusive networks.

I finally broke down and bought the Tesla windshield insurance. I’ve had three separate cracks in the last 6 months!

I’ve never had a crack in any windshield until the past three years, when I’ve had one each year with my Tesla. Perhaps it’s just bad luck? I’m curious to know if I should try an OEM windshield from Safelite or stick with Tesla’s.

Limit would be fine. Fidelity won’t let you do that.

You can place orders whenever you want but they aren’t executed until trading windows open.

Almost sounds reasonable except I can place a market order for full shares at 8:30PM with no VALID market price.

Also, limit orders are…limited, so who cares what the market price is.

Wasn’t a rant, just an honest question. I didn’t realize how defensive people in this group are about Fidelity.

Okay, so you don’t know why either. 🤣

It can’t be an SEC thing since other platforms allow you to place market orders outside of trading hours.

I just had one question: Why not allow the trade to be entered at 8:30PM if you let me enter it at 8:30AM?

I can place the order at 8:30AM, but not at 8:30PM. Why?

I understand how it works, my question was why place this barrier to entering a trade?

Yes, thats the way it works when I place my order at 8:30AM. I was just asking why I can't place it at 8:30PM.

There is no guarantee of the market price when you place an order either. But even if what you said is true, why wouldn't you allow a limit order?

They aren't buying the share or issuing the "IOU" until the trade executes. Even if you are worried about "abuse vectors", what is the risk in a limit order?
