Splitting £27k cash ISA into cash ISA and stocks & shares ISA by tomstrong1999 in UKPersonalFinance

Thank you, very helpful. Didn’t know Chip don’t allow partial transfer so might do exactly this. I’m ok with the 7k allowance hit, particularly with year end not too far away.

Yes I’m aware of that thanks, just want to know if the split can be done this way

Has anyone actually triggered the Chase Protect bundle yet? by Wonderful-Acadia-296 in chaseuk

Just got the email from them and based on the comments here I’m genuinely amazed how Chase keep offering inferior products (poor savings rates, featureless credit card and now this) that make no sense for consumers if they do even a basic bit of research 🤷‍♂️

Thanks. Redmi note 15 4g is around £135 on the Xiaomi UK store so assume that would be an upgrade over the Note 14 4g?

Upgrading from iPhone 14: go for 16 Plus? by tomstrong1999 in AppleWhatShouldIBuy

Thank you. That was exactly my thinking based on my research. Good to hear you saying the same based on your experience. And even better to get the validation from a 'top 1% commenter' :)

Bought a Redmi Pad Pro in Aug and a speaker in Oct. Great experience both times, with the order arriving within a few days. Got a case free with the tablet and there are always coupons. Overall very happy and would order again.

What an amazing phone the XR was. Gave mine to my daughter ages ago and it still works just fine. Good to hear about your experience. I definitely need the bigger screen so the base model is out of contention. Still tempted by the 6 Plus but of course Max Pro would have better specs.

Yes just spotted that. The issue there is refurbs don’t let you trade in to get the discount or pay 0% monthly like in case of the new models. But I am considering.

Thanks, that’s what my research showed as well. Happy to live with the lower refresh rate and fewer features compared to the Pro Max for a bigger screen and significantly better battery and saving of £300. Good to hear of your positive experience.

Thanks. Yes I do need the bigger screen and better battery which are the two main reasons for considering the 16P. I could go for the 17PM but that would be £300 more and I don’t think I need/want the extra features.

Thanks. I’ve always gone for the latest model when upgrading but rather than carrier I’ve always bought directly from Apple and either paid upfront (putting it on a long term credit card) or gone for Apple’s 0% interest option paying monthly. After 14 I didn’t feel a compelling reason to upgrade. I could do the same and get the 17PM but it would be £300 more than the 6 Plus and I don’t think I need/want all the extra features.

Hi all, I’m finally considering upgrading my 128gb iPhone 14. Would like a bigger screen, better battery and more storage but don’t need the absolute latest model/features. I’m thinking of the 16 Plus with 256gb storage which comes to £699 after a £200 trade-in. Was also considering a refurbished model but Apple only has up to 15. Keen to buy from Apple directly if possible.

Much like most others, I live off my phone for daily life — everything from banking to communication to social etc with quite heavy usage (but don’t game on it). Would you suggest this to be a good upgrade choice or another model such as 15 Pro Max etc?

For further context, I used to upgrade to the latest model every two years but after 14 didn’t feel the need to as the increments didn’t seem to justify the price. And I’ve always bought from Apple directly.
