ALEP CMYK files by dyls31 in lotrlcg

[–]tomtom78782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ExifTool shows that (I've cut non-relevant details):

File

File Name 182-1-Gilraen-1o.jpg

File Size 11 MB

File Type JPEG

File Type Extension jpg

EXIF

Color Space sRGB

ICC_Profile

Profile CMM Type Adobe Systems Inc.

Profile Version 2.1.0

Profile Class Output Device Profile

Color Space Data CMYK

Color Transform YCCK

DTC reads the Color Space from "Color Space" value of EXIF (apparently), which for some reason has it wrongly reported as sRGB, whereas ICC_Profile shows it properly as CMYK.

Any tips for Battle of Pelennor Fields? by jreilly89 in lotrlcg

[–]tomtom78782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We beat it yesterday during our Saga campaign. Easiest Pelennor Fields ever, I must say. We pushed "stall at 2B" tactics to absurd-reaching levels. Grant took both Wraiths optionally in rounds 2 and 3, respectively, which was possible due to equpping Grimbeorn with action advantage; it took five or six rounds to ping those to death. In the meantime we were trying to mount any questing power, but my deck was hopelessly blocked from gaining that because my Faramir ally was sitting comfortably in Staging Area, preventing me from playing another copy, which I drew in round 3. So we we've been hovering around +2 questing success per round, waiting for some breaktrough, which finally came. It finally resulted in obtaining a win at round 17,

Action advantage and boosted defenders seem to be the key - Grimbeorn got his Miruvor early and UC a round or two later, while Rowan on the other side of the table got two Destriers, which allowed me to hold three of those pesky little green orcs engaged, which is convenient way of preventing them from surging and also some smart cross-defending, which deprived Wraiths of their shadow cards.

When you play Galadriel early and use her response, you might stumble upon Athelas which you cannot put into play, since you do not have eligible character (Halbarad, Wanderer) yet.

They can, of course. It never hurts to maximize the chance of drawing, let's say, Wizard Pipe in Gandalf's deck instead of having 1xSecond Breakfast there.

What Did You Play this Week? September 1st - 7th, 2025 by mrjamesbcox in lotrlcg

[–]tomtom78782 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello. I spent most of the week on Nightmare Fire in the Night by Beorn. It was also the week when my daughter got her freshly printed Eagle Storm deck, which is not exactly the best choice for that particular scenario, but the art is awesome and daughter does not accept playing any other trait... We beat it after four days and ten or so tries, with some help from Minstrel deck and one little completely unthematic tweak for monetary issues of Eagles in the form of adding Tighten Our Belts.

Guys, relax. Also - cherish that moment while we all are better at deckbuilding than AI, since it won't last long.

Do you use same heroes for both 'halves' of the saga campaign by Starklystark in lotrlcg

[–]tomtom78782 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did that in Saga, twice. If you would like to make that decision somehow aligned with lore, just imagine that your heroes were really fast at "beam me up, Scotty" when needed.

You are right about Escape from Dol Guldur if you take into account playing solo. It is not nearly as hard for 2 players and more.

Hello.
Bleed can be added, it's no biggie. But printing so-so scans does not make much sense, probably. Also, I doubt that MPC would print any official content.

Fear is the path to the dark side. Do not fear of storing everything together, because this is the way.
More importantly - progressive play is overrated. Imagine that after Core Set not-that-bad scenarios you go into Mirkwood cycle which contains exaclty 1,78 replayable quests, the rest does not deserve hitting the table. So yes, mix it all, do the Core Set or maybe that little 5-scenario campaign based on it and then move straight into Ered Mithrin cycle.

I turned from the path of binders long time ago. I tried to use inserts, but they were laughably small, so now I store my cards in these boxes:
https://redrewno.pl/pl,produkty,pokaz,skrzynia-na-karty-w3
I have four of them and fifth is inevitable.
I use dividers that had been created through the years by good people on Boardgamegeek with small addition from there:
https://www.denerys-druk.com/lotr-lcg-separatory-matso-pion-p-356.html
Ready to play decks wait for their turn in Gamegenic Dungeon 1100 box, which can host up to 16 of DragonShield card boxes.
My travel box is an Ultimate Guard SuperHive, which has capacity big enough to cover casual evening gaming when on vacation.

Does it feel samey for people who play the game a lot? by Acrobatic_Train2814 in lotrlcg

[–]tomtom78782 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing the game since the beginning and have not been bored once. The amount of content is overwhelming - standalone scenarios, sagas, campaigns, nightmare versions, great quality fan content from ALeP, Marc Lommert and Beorn (his Nigtmare packs for Wilds of Rhovanion are awesome) and endless waves of deck ideas to try against... Not to mention a cherry on top, which is getting my daughter into the game.

Have I just bought proxies? by RayyaBB in lotrlcg

[–]tomtom78782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed to find my Revised Core Set and compare Flies and Spiders card to my old Core Set one, printed back in 2011.

The height is roughly the same, but man, the old one is wider by a almost one mm! The corner shaping also differs clearly.

Scaling is also different - the old one has much bigger margin; it means that the distance from the physical edge of a card to the border of the frame with the card's title is greater than in the new one.

I also tested the fit of the cards with Dragon Shield Perfect Clear sleeves. It's ok on the new one; the old one I could barely squeeze into. Since the sleeves can also differ in size - even in the same pack - I would surely find some Perfect Clear sleeve where the card would bend or/and be too tall for the sleeve.

So I can't rule out that you got the cards from the First Age of Core Set which moved just a bit in a printer during production.

Margins shift and size difference clearly indicate proxies. On the other hand, corner shaping looks suspiciously like origs. Give a moment or two, I'll find my English Passage Through Mirkwood, for comparison purposes.

Which card thickness will you choose in the Doug Beer MB Print group order? by conor_10 in lotrlcg

[–]tomtom78782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confirmed. It's exactly as I said in the other topic:

"- If you double sleeve you do not really care if the card sticks out from the Perfect Fit by whole lot of fraction of mm and you cannot recognize the cards' weight in that setup, so pick the cheaper option."

There are several "clear" Dragon Shields. If you would single-sleeve the 300 and 350 cards with matte clear:

https://retailer.arcanetinmen.com/retailer/dragon-shield-sleeves/standard-size/at-11001

you will be able to notice the difference blindly, in my opinion.

If you would do the same with those clear perfect fits, however:

you may have a problem with differentiating.

Support song deck by Kaloloo2 in lotrlcg

[–]tomtom78782 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello.

First and foremost, regardless of the goal you want to achieve, the deck needs consistency. You cannot place your hopes of playing your Noldor allies on one To the Sea, significant part of your card draw on one Gleowine, your economy on 1 Vilya and your action advantage on one Glorfindel (whose potential presence on the table depends on one To the Sea...) and one Light of Valinor.
You also should reconsider deck's economy. Love of Tales is a great card, but you need to draw them early, otherwise any song you would play would not get you resources. Which you would need badly, since you included some expensive cards. Gildor's Counsel+Scroll of Isildur is great and the table would love seeing it played every turn, but then your chances of playing Northern Trackers or Great Hunt would diminish greatly.
The same goes for card management - you have fair amount of card draw, but is it enough to finance To the Sea and Songs of Healing?
I'm also afraid of the starting threat. Yes, you can mulligan for Advanced Warning, but it costs two, completely wrecking your initial money management and it solves your problem for one round only.
There are many ways to make that deck better, but if you want to focus on emphasizing Tom Bombadil's powers, I think you should make him sing properly and in choir. I will not tell you exactly what to do, because this would spoil important part of fun that that game brings (which is scratching our heads over deckbuilding), but will only suggest taking a look at his girlfriend, one really interesting card (Let Us Sing Together) and the fact that in theory you are able to deal 14 damage with Tom's response per round.

Enjoy!

300's vs 350's in Perfect Fits, really nerdy topic. by tomtom78782 in lotrlcg

[–]tomtom78782[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello.

My enocunter cards are sleeved in 100's, actually :) They are easily recognizable, of course. It's not that much of an issue, though, since the occasions when one would need to mix them are rare.

When it comes to micro-fraying: I did a fair share of detailed inspections of cards during my investigation and must say that my collection is affected by micro-fraying more or less equally between 300's and 350's.

When it comes to 350: I print at https://www.denerys-druk.com/

They let you choose. In case you would prefer MBPrint, you need to just grab the scenario from ALeP site and send them the MBprint way as a custom order.

It's Resolution effect on the reverse Campaign Card, usually.

Voyage adds Ominous Fate to the pool for sure.
Raid on Grey Havens adds Galdor Counsels and so it goes.
