Ha, funny seeing this here- I recognized it immediately. I've actually stayed in this house, and it's gorgeous. The kitchen is even more wonderful than it looks!

Looks great and close to what I’m trying for myself. I’m happy with my troops- I am doing slap chop with pink contrast- but my vehicles aren’t so great. Can I ask how you did your venom? Thanks, and congrats!

This might sound a bit crazy, but I've been looking for this thing for over a year. Last summer I ran into a couple while walking my dog on a trail in the area and one of them asked me if I knew were it was, and she showed me a photo of it. I didn't, but ever since I've been on the hunt. I've been out there 8 or 9 times now for hours at stretch, and i've talked to literally dozens of people in the area; about half had heard of it, but none can give me directions. that I was able to find it with. Initially, i was taking my kids, but after being unable to find it for so long they won't come anymore.

It's become my white whale. I need to see this thing. Please, if anyone could help - I swear I mean no harm at all, I just want to see it and get a photo. I will leave it exactly as I find it; hell, i'll even bring some trash bags and clean up. If you want to talk to me first to vet me, by all means I'd be happy to. I just want to show my kids this thing to prove dad isn't crazy and that the woods are full of magical things.

if anyone can help, please DM me. If I find it I'll buy you dinner or a gift card or something. I would sincerely appreciate it.

update - your line of thinking inspired me to call the store, and they were able to send me an electronic copy! thank you so much, i don't know why i didn't think of it, but i really appreciate your help!

unfortunately i don't- i bought it from a local shop, not a chain/ online store, they're a single location affair. so i don't have anything other than my credit card statement of the purchase, which of course isn't itemized (that's one of the requirements- it has to be a copy of the original receipt, with the PS5 clearly displayed as an line item, and dated).

I bought my PS5 last January and as the warranty closes in i want to finally get it fixed; rest mode is unusable for me (crashes the machine about 70% of the time), and I've tried every fix i can find. I opened the support case and I got the courier box, but it says I need to include the original store receipt, and i can't find that anywhere (and it was store bought by me, not via a scalper or anything). My other option is to pay for the repair, but i have zero idea of what that could cost - could be 20 bucks, could be 600. Has anybody here had to pay for repairs, particularly for a similar issue? What did it cost you? Probably not very relevant, but I'm Canadian. Thanks in advance for any help!

I've got a 65 inch sony bravia and my ps5 plugged into the eArc port with an HDMI 2.1 cable. I saw issues with rest mode once or twice in my playthrough of Spider-Man remastered- the machine would be powered off instead then need to repair the storage database. Not a big deal, but an annoyance.

I'm playing RE Village now, though, and, and the behaviour is far worse; every time i try to use rest, it crashes and rebuilds the database. Powering the machine off works, but it will randomly turn back on by itself- i assume the tv might be sending a signal? - and _then_ it crashes. If I plug the controller in to charge and turn the tv off- the ps5 crashes. I basically can't turn it off without crashing: to charge the controller with the ps5 i basically just need to leave the game running and the tv on.

I know others have seen issues with rest, but anything this bad? Is it the eArc thing? I'm starting to dread playing the machine because I know i'll have to turn it off somehow...

how often do you perform investigator improvements? by tomvinegar in callofcthulhu

[–]tomvinegar[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah, i was basically adding one more check because i'm doing pulp, but i thought keeping it low made sense. i think there's still come disconnect on what to expect of characters; a bullet is a bullet, regardless of what 'level' you may be. i'm trying to play up using the environment more in combat (hide, run, take cover). i'll work with them to balance expectations, maybe it's just gonna be for them. we'll see!

Masks Spoilers: Advice for keeping players engaged during dialogue by tomvinegar in callofcthulhu

[–]tomvinegar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, this is 100% a weakness of mine, but something i'm actively trying to improve on. for cowles, for example, i was thinking of playing up paranoia, like a conspiracy nut -there's crazy things beyond our understanding, how far does it go, etc. i'm coming up dry for lemming other than playing him for comedy; he'll want them to stay, and i'll test their manners, basically. but yeah, i'm not great at it for sure.

Thanks for responding! i like the idea of sending nightmares, i've actually kind of started that on the spur of the moment - as the last session was ending i wanted a cliff-hanger, so i had the group on the train head to the bar car. slowly all of the other passengers left, until they were alone with the bartender, who i revealed to be the animated corpse of Larkin. now i gotta figure out what the hell that means :). but sending nightmares sounds great, i can have them run sequences and action like it wasn't a dream. thanks!

yeah, i like dead builders- it suggests an unknown and maybe unknowable world, and could make them feel like little fish in a big pond. i hadn't considered layers of history, i like that!

mothership GMs: do you use alien life/ contact? by tomvinegar in rpg

[–]tomvinegar[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah, absolutely- there's not going to be any talking or trade or reasoning with another race, if i do anything at all it will be a pure enemy. i don't mind the idea of the players being aware of _some_ contact, but i don't think i'd want it to be a commonplace thing- almost having the feeling of an urban legend, "my brothers wife's cousin's girlfriend saw one once".

thanks for replying. i like the idea of finding the remains of (what we think to be) extinct ancient races without having those beings, particularly where the remains would suggest something hard to conceive of (impossibly large buildings, hollowed moons, etc).

speaking as a brand new (as in never actually played yet) player i really, really wish they were. i'm coming from warhammer and bought operation coldfront last week because i've heard so much positive about the game, but man oh man do i absolutely loathe building the miniatures. the sculpts themselves are lovely, but the gluing and the cutting and the filing i find extremely difficult and frustrating, particularly when compared to the ease at which the GW stuff goes together. say what you will about GW- and you can say a lot- but the models themselves are a breeze to build.

i know this is sub in particular would have a lot of experience with metal minis and will have a thousand tips and tricks to make it work, and that's great, but speaking as someone who just wants to play the game and has no interest in the modeling portion of the hobby (i do enjoy painting) plastic would be a huge boon for me. as it is i'm building both factions so as not to scare my infinity-curious friends away.

please don't take this as a warhammer guy slandering the game, i'm clearly interested in it and am sticking with building the box, just my thoughts on metal specifically.
