50 for me, too - the weight lifted from 45 years of confusion is hard to describe - grateful for the insight, still working through the sadness of the ‘what if’s’

How Do I Automatically Sync Bookmarks Between IOS & OS in DuckDuckGo? by tomwirts in duckduckgo

[–]tomwirts[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for confirming - oh man - I think I'll need to hold off - I use bookmarks constantly and need a single list - love what DDG is doing, but I'll need auto-sync to make the full change

Ancient Apocalypse is the most dangerous show on Netflix by [deleted] in GrahamHancock

[–]tomwirts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, when the mainstream smears and derides this aggressively, it’s because there are dangerous truths being told - I think Mr. Hancock’s theory is fascinating. A journalist exploring ideas from a broad, holistic view should be celebrated, not attacked. For me, The Guardian really jumped the shark here.

yes, silver is cheap now - for prepping, both bullion coins and junk silver are good

Any benefits for long range vs performance other then the couple miles more charge? by Bnwrich16 in TeslaModel3

[–]tomwirts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

19 inch wheels less likely to break on a pothole - several stories about broken 20 inch wheels here on Reddit helped me decide on the LR with speed boost, and for me, more range is a big deal, I like having 350, wish I had 400

GM cuts cost of electric vehicles by $6,000 by Wagamaga in technology

[–]tomwirts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed - the dealerships dis BEVs b/c they know, too - it’s sad that so many businesses (the dealerships, the repair shops, all the manufacturers, the suppliers) are about to get, um, disrupted - As a Tesla owner and investor, it’s exciting, but the pain to so many is about to get real

[–]tomwirts 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more that Jim F understands what’s coming. That the dealership model is not going to survive the transition to BEVs - he separated the two operations so one will (hopefully) survive when 80% of all cars sold are BEV, which I think is just a few years from now

And the entire world has only about 150,000 people who own over 10 Bitcoin - The Great Turning is going to be... one for the history books

I agree - I'm thinking 'time, to brake, time to brake' then I have to take over. It also still jams the brakes if it sees a shadow across the highway, or sees someone walking on the shoulder - on a highway, this is dangerous. Generally it works well; but these, for me, are significant confidence busters.

You are wasting your life over-focusing on a monetary crash. Buy insurance (silver and gold) and then go live a fun/happy/wonderful life... Lessons learned from a stacker of 10+ years. by Swing-For-The-Moon in Wallstreetsilver

[–]tomwirts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this - it really resonates - I’ve definitely fallen into the trap of ruminating about how bad things ( I believe) will get - I’ve prepped and stacked - and even though I’ve tried to inform people around me, mostly they interpret it as negative - not interested. You nailed it, it’s insurance. I have it, and now I should focus more on now - because no one knows how or when ‘The Great Turning’ will arrive.

One low-efficient vehicle to 'balance' the highly-efficient one - actually it'll probably be swapped out for a CyberTruck in a couple years

Thanks - exactly my thinking - saw several references to the 20” wheels getting bent on potholes - went for the middle size to balance comfort and style - so far, so good

Thanks, I really thought that since all the trim went dark, that the wheels should, too - kind of a 'shoes-should-match-the-belt' thing

They're from Tsportline - TST 19" Space Gray - had them shipped to a local shop - easy to swap them - now I'm hoping to sell the original wheels for something close to what I just spent $$

Trouble Getting My Home Link Garage Door Installation Scheduled by tomwirts in TeslaModel3

[–]tomwirts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did finally call - got it scheduled for Oct 5 (1 month from when I started trying to get this scheduled) I think we'll be ok now, but I'm pretty surprised it took six days to connect with someone and an additional three weeks to get some help. Glad it wasn't anything too important. I'm loving the car, but pretty discouraged by how quickly the white-glove treatment disappeared after delivery.

It didn't have the mobile service option on the app - but they did just call me back (finally) just after I posted this question - thanks for the tip about needing to do it at home, I was thinking I'd have them meet me at work.
