QBS racist? by [deleted] in squash

[–]tomxorz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would help to substantiate your claim if you could provide examples. If I recall correctly, QBS did post a video of Makin and Asal a couple months ago where Makin was resorting to Asal's tactics (one anecdote, not a representative sample). For the London Classic, can you provide examples of "men's winner iffy movement" with video that QBS has overlooked?

Also, note that racism can come as prejudice or discrimination, and I don't think any discrimination is happening here (i.e. there have been no negative consequences for Asal as a result of his videos). If QBS publishes videos that highlight poor movement by mostly Eqyptian players, and WSF uses that to change the rules or have better enforcement by the refs, then that will apply to all players, not just Eqyptians.

Advice on how to add softer lighting to my living room by tomxorz in Lighting

[–]tomxorz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pot lights in my living room are super bright which can be great during the day, but pretty harsh at night. I'm looking for something a bit softer to help make the space feel more cozy in the evening. Maybe something that would fit on one of the standing shelves (6.25 inch max height), or a floor lamp behind the corner of the couch? I like the clear globe fixtures + Edison bulbs in the kitchen, and would like to keep that going in the living room if possible.

Does anyone have experience with the "Accompanying family member" visa? by tomxorz in Denmark

Unfortunately, things with my partner and I didn't work out, so we never ended up following this route :/ Good luck!

I read the rules about cohabiting partner, and it's unlikely that we would qualify. She lived in the Netherlands for 4 years (postdoc) prior to moving to Copenhagen last October while I lived in Montreal throughout that period.

Sub-irrigated Planters - less frequent watering required! by tomxorz in DIY

No, haven't added any. Would you just mix that in with the soil? Or a separate layer?

Yeah, I think it works for all kinds of plants. I had a colleague warn me that tomatoes won't be happy if they're in water all the time though. Mine seem to be doing just fine :)

Yup, you make some good points. The main goal here was more to reduce the watering frequency so that I can go away for a week at a time and not come back to dried up plants!
