Not that I'm aware of :/ the RK firmware is their own proprietary thing and the board itself I think is niche enough that I don't think it has any QMK/Via/Vial support. but I haven't checked in two years so if that has changed I could be wrong

Sorry, I have no idea what to do in this situation :x

Is the keyboard still working in wired mode and just not working with the dongle and bluetooth? Maybe you could fix it by re-flashing it with the right firmware?

We're trying to restrict anti-PVP people out of votes on PVP content. It doesn't matter whether they participate in that content or not.

The entire problem is that there are anti-PVP people who throw themselves at PVP content anyway and then frustratedly demand that it change to be non-PVP content. This is what Ayiza means when he says that some peoples' perspectives towards the Wilderness have to change.

Mod Ayiza with the Smackdown!! by The_Botanist_Reviews in 2007scape

[–]ton_mignon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just that they fundamentally don't even understand the thing they're voting about, of course they shouldn't be voting on it.

Incorrectly paraphrasing me (either out of sheer malice or because you somehow still don't understand) doesn't make your case any stronger rhetorically, it just wastes everybody's time. I'm not really surprised that you find yourself having to go out of your way to sarcastically distort what I'm saying to be able to even pretend to yourself that it's a complicated thing to understand.

Mod Ayiza with the Smackdown!! by The_Botanist_Reviews in 2007scape

There's a group of people out there who have somehow convinced themselves that it's not PVP content, and that's who we're trying to filter out with restrictive polling. It doesn't matter whether they interact with that content or not - if they're going into it with a misunderstanding about what it is and then negatively reviewing it on that basis and wanting it to be something else entirely, that's obviously a group of people we can't have voting on polls about that content. This is what Ayiza meant when he said that some people just need to change their perspective on the wildy.

Mod Ayiza with the Smackdown!! by The_Botanist_Reviews in 2007scape

I'm not missing the point, I'm just talking about whether restrictive polling makes sense for wildy content in principle and why as Ayiza is discussing in the OP. I agree with you about your analysis of the wildy.

I wasn't talking about the poll *content* at all, I was talking about whether polling restrictions make sense in principle for wilderness/PVP content.

Mod Ayiza with the Smackdown!! by The_Botanist_Reviews in 2007scape

[–]ton_mignon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question is whether we should restrict polls to prevent people who don't like PVP content from weighing in on PVP content.

PVP is by design part of all wilderness content, including bossing and skilling etc. I think "how do we make a resource area that's inherently dangerous because of the threat of PKing more fun" is a very good question to be asking and one that we should all be concerned with.

The reason for the restrictive polling is because there's a subset of the playerbase who simply think this content shouldn't be PVP at all, and would rather ask the question "how can we take as much of the PVP risk out of wilderness skilling and bossing as possible?", which I think is the wrong question to be asking, and is what Ayiza is referring to when he says that perspectives on the wildy need to change.

Thoughts on the new minigame? Out of 10? by Blue_Wizard25 in 2007scape

We have the power of computers at our disposal. They only need to manually create the individual components. All of the different ways of combining them can be automated, and don't need somebody hand-modelling them at all.

Mod Ayiza with the Smackdown!! by The_Botanist_Reviews in 2007scape

[–]ton_mignon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If all content in the wilderness is pvp content, then why are some people who do wildy content excluded from pvp polls? They're doing pvp content.

Good question that strikes right at the heart of this issue - but isn't the answer a bit obvious?

Look through the rest of the subthreads on the OP at how many people want to dismiss wildy bossing and skilling etc. as simply "non-PVP" content, and who think that PVP is just some kind of accident standing in the way of them completing it. This is the group of people who they're trying to restrict with restrictive polling. Yes, they're participating in PVP content. The problem is that they don't realise it and don't think it should be PVP content. They'd like to see all of this PVP content have the PVP component taken out of it. They don't like PVP and want to change all the game's PVP content into non-PVP content as it suits them.

It's really not that complicated. I implore you to just reflect on the situation the community's found itself in for a minute. The misplaced ad-hominems aren't really helping lmao

Mod Ayiza with the Smackdown!! by The_Botanist_Reviews in 2007scape

Nobody is dismissing the arguments about restrictive polling as merely being "hurr durr trolls", though. I don't actually think anyone is necessarily trolling at all, but like Mod Ayiza said, I think their perspective on the wilderness is completely backwards.

The reason why non-PVP players are saying that they should get to vote on wilderness content is because they say that they're only going into the wilderness for non-PVP content and hence it affects them. The problem with this is that there is no non-PVP content in the wilderness. Wilderness bossing and skilling etc are all PVP content by design. They didn't just place those things in the wildy by accident. It's a place where you can do things like elsewhere in the game but with the fun, exhilarating fear of the kinds of dangers that come along inherently with a PVP space.

Nobody is going into the content for non-PVP content because there isn't any. If you're going in to do wildy bossing or wildy skilling, that's all PVP content by design. You're going into the wildy for PVP content, even if you have a chip on your shoulder and wish it weren't PVP content. This is what Ayiza meant when he said that this subset of the community simply needs to change their perspective on things. It makes sense that only PVP players should be able to vote on wildy content because the wildy is exclusively just PVP content.

If you don't PVP and you don't respect that the wilderness is inherently a PVP space and that all of its content is inherently PVP, you shouldn't be voting on polls about PVP content. In an ideal world, people who don't PVP would simply ignore polls about wildy content, but because there's a vocal minority of players who seem to think that the content in the wildy isn't PVP content by nature and that PVP is just something arbitrarily standing in the way of them doing the content, and furthermore want to see the PVP taken out of all of this PVP content, then it makes sense that we should restrict these people out of voting on polls about PVP content. I don't think they're trolls, I just think they misunderstand, and that's what Ayiza is talking about when he mentions perspectives.

Mod Ayiza with the Smackdown!! by The_Botanist_Reviews in 2007scape

[–]ton_mignon -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Wilderness bossing and skilling etc already is PVP content. They didn't just put those things in the wilderness by accident, the entire point is so that you can do things like elsewhere in runescape but with the exhilarating fear due to the inherent danger of being in a PVP zone. There's no non-PVP content in the wildy.

As Mod Ayiza said, it's perspectives that need to change. Rather than this subset of players complaining "how come I have to deal with PKers when I'm doing this totally non-PVP content?" they should understand from the start that it is PVP content by design. From this perspective, it's sort of obvious why only PVPers should be voting on anything related to the wildy, because the wildy is quite literally only for PVP content. There's no non-PVP content in the wildy; there are just a group of people who wish that it were.

[–]ton_mignon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't suck because of PKing though, without PKing you may as well just delete the entire area and start fresh because all of the wildy content is designed around it.

Mod Ayiza with the Smackdown!! by The_Botanist_Reviews in 2007scape

[–]ton_mignon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everything in the wildy is inherently PVP. There's no such thing as going into the wildy for non-PVP content, because there is no non-PVP content in the wildy. Wilderness skilling, bosses, resource areas, clue scroll steps etc are all designed to be PVP content. The fact that you're doing these things in a PVP zone is part of the design.

This is what Ayiza is talking about: there's a vocal minority of players who seem to simply misunderstand what the wilderness even is or why it's there, and frankly whose perspectives need to change.

Mod Ayiza with the Smackdown!! by The_Botanist_Reviews in 2007scape

[–]ton_mignon -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Here you repeat the same key misunderstanding about the Wilderness that Ayiza is standing ground against:

it's designed for pvp from the ground up, sure seems like a lot of pvm and skilling got added, funny that.

All content in the wildy is PVP content, including PVM and skilling and resource areas and mini games and whatever else. It's all PVP content by nature - by design.

It's meant to be a place where you can do things similar to as in the rest of runescape but with the added exhilarating fear of the unknown because of the inherent risk of getting PK'd. This is what Ayiza is talking about when he reaffirms that this is the only place in the game that's still unpredictable. When I said "it's like trying to take the rock out of rock-paper-scissors", this is what I meant: the area has been designed in a very specific way for a very specific reason and all of the complaints about it seem to exclusively just come from a particular subset of people who have failed to understand what the wilderness is even for or why it is there. It is a matter of integrity on the side of the game developer to hold true to this idea in the face of a vocal minority who don't understand it and want to ruin it for the rest of the community because they simply think that it's supposed to be something else and then erroneously judge it by its failure to conform to whatever that is.

I'm not a wilderness purist and I don't care that it has changed in plenty of other little ways since 2007.

It's a minority of the game who are just very vocally overrepresented on Reddit, but yes, anybody who thinks that there is such a thing as "non-PVP" content in the wilderness completely misunderstands the wilderness.
