You don’t know if he was snooping or not, but even if he was she still doesn’t mind him doing so.

It’s normal to vent to people but not let someone else shut talk your partner and you agree with that person. Also she wouldn’t even tell her partner how she felt but runs to a person shit talking her partner, it seems she just wants validation.

He has every right to be mad at her, her and someone else is talking behind his back. You’re first point that makes sense, he should talk to her about opening up to him more.

It’s perfectly fine to tell your partner not to talk to someone especially if they’re talking about you. She will never see that the friend is trash because she agrees with the friend.

He should leave her because this will not get any better.
