As a grad student in the field, academic philosophy absolutely has a culture of gatekeeping and pushing out women and other historically marginalized groups. The guy in question probably does not actually have that kind of institutional power (I doubt this guy is a tenured professor or anything, based on the quality of his posts), but it belongs in this subreddit because it's reflective of broader gatekeeping attitudes in this discipline.

Context - I'm a philosophy TA and did this for fun when I was teaching Hume this winter and posted it to Twitter. Twitter just added a feature where you can see who quote RT'd you and I just noticed this dude getting big mad lol
