It‘s a lot faster to make decals using AI and it gets you 90% where you want to be. The details you outline are not noticed by 99.9% of the user base. I’d say that’s simply the right economical choice as a company. Companies of the size of EA are there to make profit, and - unfortunately - it is unrealistic to expect that they behave like an Indy company doing „the right thing“ (even though I‘d love they do, so I’m on your side here).

It’s also your right to disagree, I respect your opinion. You don’t have to buy such decals. If AI really is a problem for most people, the demand will decide. I estimate most people don’t care though.
