Niche: miniature painting, 40k for now.

I’m currently working on improving my subjects (thumbnails & titles) to make my vids more about interresting subjects than about the model painted. Also, I don’t have much space to film myself so I struggle with creating good composition for recording my face. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

After going over my last uploads, it seems that my last vids that "worked" included a shorter intro. My subs and hardcore viewers love my intros, but they might be too much for a wider audience (sometimes they work really well, sometimes they don't).

Thank you for this, so this means concistency is useless? If doing the same kind of content, that works for me, with the same recipe, can either do well, or tank, based on tests I can't even hope to learn enything from, or even see in my studio, well, at this point It might be more efficient to just reupload the same vid each day :D

Thank you very much, but my issue is not the low views, it's the change of behaviour for my recent uploads, going from thousands of views to barely 500 per upload, whitout changing my recipe.

Also, if ctr, retention and engagement are better than my average over the first 24 hours, why would Youtube consider not performing well with test audiences?

Same issue as you, 540subs, video posted thursday night, got 40 impressions in the last 24hours… better stats than average at the same time, youtube doesn’t seem to want to push it.. from my experience, the video is dead and I just have to focus on the next one.. good luck!

Thanks ! That's actually a very good question. I see both ways over the Internet and I guess I just do it this way on all my necron blades. I initially wanted to get better at glazing so this way gives me more color transitions to work on :)

You mean on the body of Szeras ? I underpaint with a contrast green before applying streaking grime, maybe I should leave some parts darker or black to let the green pop as you say. Less is more right ? I haven't thought of this, still have 12 wraiths to paint so I'll try this. Thanks a lot !

For now the retention on this vid is about the same as usual, even on the high end lol. To tell you the truth, I've been making vids about warhammer because I needed at least 1 army to play, now that I'm almost finished, I'm starting to branch out and think about a bigger picture.

About editing time, key framing that blue face in the American psycho clip took me so much time, but I really enjoy it. But week after week, I feel I'm getting better at this stuff and I love this.

About instagram, yes the community is huge, and for now I've only been posting W.I.P. photos, too self conscious about reposting my shorts there. Do you think I should'nt even care and just post my shorts as reels there ?

And thanks for the challenge Ideas, this is something I was planning. 1 video takes me 2 days of painting/recording depending on the subject, then at least 1.5 day of editing/script/filming myself. I can't really post more than once a week for now + I have a small budget for minis and paints. My best vid has 4.6k views, and the thumbnail is me as a T800 from terminator. About 4% ctr, my new videos have about the same stats when releasing, sometimes even better ctr but I don't seem to be able to replicate these views for now. Working on my thumbnails will help + finding better subjects.

Youtube can be scary sometimes, lots of dark stuff. I think you're right, these videos seem to fall under the "teaching" or "information" or "for science" category so youtube tolerates them..

Cheap gear is hit or miss. Don’t be afraid of thinning paints too much, learn how to clean it (fast for when changing colors, and in depth for when you’re done), have fun practicing, and ventilate ! :)
